I cannot understand all the negative reviews below. I have strong and thick stubble growth, which this razor handles with ease. I've been using it for three months and have yet to inflict a cut. To my mind this product offers a better shave than a Mach 3 or a Fusion.

This book is a first-rate follow up to 'Hardcore Zen'. Brad again uses episodes from his own life to highlight important Buddhist teachings, this time taken from Dogen's Shobogenzo. Brad uses clear language, and no little humour, to help explain the key points of the famously abstruse masterpiece. Brad was also helpful enough to point out a publishing error on his blog (Hardcore Zen):

ANYWAY, I found a mistake in the book. Those of you who have the book, turn to page 74. Look at the bottom of the second complete paragraph. What's written there says: "To really suppress anger, you have to suppress the urge to avoid the beautiful juiciness of it all." It's supposed to say, "...suppress the urge to enjoy the beautiful juiciness of it all." So go get your Bic and fix that. It's OK. I told you to do it. So don't worry about messing up the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your own teacher in a book., 5 Feb. 2007
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Whilst no book can truely replace a teacher, this comes pretty damn close. This is first and foremost a practical book, emphasising the importance of regular practice. Uchiyama Roshi explains shikantaza in the most clear and simple way imaginable. He also details how to integrate Zen into your everyday life. If you are interested in Soto Zen Buddhism, then this is a must-buy.

This book offers an ideal introduction to Zen Buddhism for those who have little time for the dry, scholarly approach. The central tenets of Soto Zen are touched upon, by way of Brad's real life experiences. Highly recommended.
