This review is from: The Anne Boleyn Papers (Paperback)
I am currently reading this volume and as I have long been fascinated with the Six Wives, this is a dream come true. A truly amazing read, from contemporary sources, you get to discover the real Anne Boleyn. However, much of it is, of course, in Tudor English so it does take some concentration. Nevertheless, it is worth sticking with because it takes you as a reader, straight back to those dark, dangerous and mysterious days. Was she really as bad as her enemies would have us believe, or was she a merely just a misunderstood and maybe naive woman? Afterall, she did provide England with one of our greatest Queens. Well educated and worldly, her intelligence belies this, but it is to the reader to conclude. Recommend to historians and general readers alike.

I received this book for my birthday and I love it! A stunning and beautiful book which any ABBA fan will love. So much information and so many rare photos, it is a must have book. The layout is clear and glossy. Thank you for a real treat! I would recommend it to anyone who may be a long time fan or to anyone just discovering the Super Swedes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful book, 6 Mar 2013

For anyone who knows of and loves Louise Brooks, then this is the book to buy. It is quite simply, stunning. Ravishing close-ups of pensive Louise, Louise in film stills, in short, everything you could wish for. It is also a photo album film buffs dream of too, a detailed look at the actress and her films.
For me, Louise empitomises the 1920s look with her sleek bobbed hair and the clothes she wears, on set and off. It is a perfect coffee table book filled with dazzling images. Recommend.
One tiny drawback. The price. Rather expensive, but worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely, 2 Sep 2012
When I was a child, I adored the Teddy Robinson stories. I used to borrow the books from the library, so it is delightful to be able to have them again, freshly produced. The tales are charming and Teddy Robinson himself, utterly adorable. Even as an adult, I still find the adventures of Deborah and her teddy, charming and a delight to read. I would recommend this volume for any parent with a young child, also to encourage children to read for themselves. Just lovely.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quite weird, 28 July 2012

This is quite good, but it didn't give me sleepless nights. Far from it. Having bought previous "best of" DVDs which didn't impress, this one does marginally better. There are indeed, unexplained happenings, like nasty scratches on Carl, and he seems to have been possessed by something which made him try to kill Stuart. Unexplained items are thrown at the team, but as ever, the best bits have been cut, leaving a fairly unexciting programme. Just 2 hours remain from a total of 7.
Once again, if it's a fright night you want, it's not here. Too much swearing from Stuart leaves Americans with a poor impression of the team.

I have collected Paul's photos of Princess Diana for some years now, and always love them. They are superb quality and never fail to impress. This book is the same. Wonderful! It's a bit of an exclusive too, as many of his photos haven't been published until now, and his photos are here, all in one book, buy it and savour, it's really one for the collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!, 12 Feb 2012

I love this series, and this special is terrific fun! A wonderful setting, fascinating background and amazing things happening. Won't spoil it for other viewers. However, on the minus side, far too much swearing and screaming. Rather uncalled for in my humble opinion. As a Christmas special, it was a good idea. I did really enjoy this programme - no adverts thankfully - and it is a bit longer than usual programmes. This one I will watch again and again. Hopefully, there will be another series sometime, it seems there might from Yvette's little hint at the end. No Keiran O'Keefe either, putting his spoil sport spanner in the works.

This is our kitten's favourite treat. She loves it, can't wait for a dish of it to be put before her. Will buy more as required. Thank you. It goes down very well with little madam, and it's good for her as an added bonus. Thank you. Recommend.
Will be back for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, 16 Sep 2011

I've had this film for a while with the NTSC American system, and it was magical to see it again. I haven't seen it since the 1970s. Grace Kelly, stunningly beautiful, is the fictional princess Alexandra, who has a choice to make; Louis Jourdan or Alec Guiness. Her choice is important to her country. One is her true love, the other...well... Who does she choose eventually? If you haven't seen this, you're missing a real cinematic treat. Romantic, sad, comic and visually gorgeous, this is one film missing from your collection. It is also something wonderful for any Royalist.
It was said to have been MGMs wedding present to Grace Kelly, as she was about to marry the late Prince Ranier of Monaco. She became the eternal swan and almost lived up to the fairytale she acted in.
I watched this film on TV with a little girl I used to look after, in the '70s, and we were both enchanted.

A really lovely volume, but, as with all of these, the wedding only features briefly, mainly the romance is documented. However, still a gorgeous book, a superb souvenir of our new royal couple and one to treasure, with truly stunning images. I do recommend this book, if you want to remember the event of the year/decade/century, whichever you care to call it. It really IS a commemorative edition.
