Only bought this book because it was cheap. But what a find!!!!!!!

I won't bore you with a plot synopsis, but I will say that I missed a number of TV progs because I lost track of time. Thoroughly absorbing and full of excitement for any reader who "sees" the story. I will be buying his next offering which will have the same characters. It will be interesting to see how they develop, and equally interesting to see if London Falling gets taken up by TV or film. I sincerely hope so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic fantasy, 29 April 2014

A short and sweet review. I may be nearing 60 years old, but no way is this book purely for children, and I will be getting the second book, not to mention the third book, very soon. Huge fan of Terry, and have read all the discworld books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked straight from box, 29 April 2014

Not only did the connector work 1st go, it was delivered on time. Those with a problem need to use the TV menu to change the source from TV to HDMI. It's a no-brainer. Picture was a bit fuzzy for a moment, but making sure the connections were seated correctly solved the problem. Sound perfect. Picture perfect. Thoroughly recommended.

This review is from: The Book Thief (Kindle Edition)
How is it possible to explain what is going to happen throughout, and yet still hold the reader's attention? But it works. Not only that, it is compulsive. So understated while still retaining its integrity without the need to build constant excitement and use elaborate plots. This book deserves to be a classic. I have heard that a film of the book is soon to be released. It works superbly in print, but I am dubious as to whether it can work on the big screen and still remain faithful to the book. We shall see.
