5.0 out of 5 stars Ohhhhhhh TJM - Master Moulton does it agin, 21 Sept. 2007
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Danceable soul and early disco at its best at the hands of maestro Tom Moulton. Two rare albums on one CD and there's not a filler anywhere to be seen.

All tracks are highlights but over six minutes of "I dont need no music to make me dance" is worth the price of the CD alone.

If you love the philly groove sound and tracks such as Ultra High Frequencies "We're on the right track", First Choice's early work or any of the early Philly back catalogue, then this is the sound for you.

Get this now before it appears at twice the price in the future - in my opinion, it dont get much better than this!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars And the message is "class, class, class!!!!!!", 22 May 2007
This review is from: Message in the Music (Audio CD)
Produced at a time when albums with a message were beginning to fade from the publics attention. This set didnt create the stir that many of the Ojays previous releases had.

It contains the usual mixture of midtempo cuts coupled with the awesome soul ballads that Eddie and the boys do better than anybody.

You would be hard pushed to recognise many of the track titles apart from the infamouus "Darling Darling Baby" but other stand outs are the gospel flavoured "A Prayer", the soul ballad Desire me and the uplifting "Let life flow"

This album stands the test of time and provides the quality of soul harmonies that are instantly recognisable as the Ojays.

If youre an Ojays fan already and you dont have this album then seek medical attention immediately, if youre looking for a great introduction to the greatest soul group of all time, then this is the shot in the arm you're looking for!

5.0 out of 5 stars Master Moulton at his best - I defy you not to tap those feet!!, 23 Jun. 2006

A great set from Soul Jazz records, this set coupled with their release of Nicky Sciano's the Gallery are not to be missed by those who love their soul and disco.

A Tom Moulton showcase, the master mixer of his era, the man credited with the creation of the 12" single and who arguably mixed some of the great dance records of the day.

A great two disc collection, with disc one containing some of Moulton's lesser known offerings whilst the second CD focusses on those more familiar tracks. There's not a single flaw on this CD, its top drawer from start to finish. Check out the full version of Keep on truckin by Eddie Kendricks, Patti Jo's Make me believe, Isaac's super soulful moonlight lovin' and last but by no means least Love is the message by MFSB eleven minutes of heaven.

As always from Soul Jazz, a fabulous 21 page booklet informing the listener about Moulton and how it all began.

It really doesnt get much better than this - I cant wait for volume two!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Where do you go from here" Womack at his very very best !!!, 4 July 2005
This review is from: Poet (Audio CD)
With his career in decline after losing a deal with his recording company, one can only wonder what mood Womack was in to craft this soul masterpiece.

The first five tracks are superbly skilled tunes that are typical of some of Womacks earlier recording.A master songwriter, he puts all his skills to good use with the standout tracks being "Just my imagination & Secrets".
However its on the final three tracks "Games, If you think you're lonely now and Where do we go from here" that Womack begins preaching to his listeners, allowing those gritty vocals to stretch out and deliver what must be his greatest ever vocal performance.
This is mindblowing soul music........ buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Summer madness - Donna at her breath taking best !!!!, 4 Nov. 2004
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Four Seasons of Love (Audio CD)
All of Donna Summers early albums (Love to love you baby, A love trilogy and four seasons) featured the "queen of disco" using her superb voice in a very soft and seductive way, something not so apparent on her later more well known productions.
It was during this early period that she was writing and producing ground breaking disco music with Giorgio Moroder & Pete Bellotte and there wasnt a club in the late seventies that wasnt filling a dance floor with one of her tracks.
As soon as you hear the opening chords that introduce "Spring Affair" you know you're in for something special and the mix that merges "Affair" into "Summer fever" is awesome (listen to the heartbeat bass. The album closes with the classic ballad "Winter melody" and you just want to go back to the beginning and start the CD all over again.
Many people will look at the four track listing and question value for money given the vast numbers of tracks available on todays CD's however, all four on this album are absolute gems.
Do yourself a favour and "Take a little Summer with you wherever you go" courtesy of the lady herself - An all time classic!!!!
