There is no DVD copy included with this steelbook! Despite Amazon's previous statement (since withdrawn) and the disc count on the site claiming it's a double disc set, it only comes with 1 Blu Ray disc. Which is very odd, since the Standard Edition Lady Snowblood / Lady Snowblood 2 [Dual Format Edition] [DVD + Blu-Ray] [1973
] does come with a DVD copy!
Steelbooks are supposed to be the Premium Edition, the one to get if you want all content in a nice package, but this release just does not deliver and is in fact downgraded compared to it's Standard Edition counterpart.
Another (yet minor) flaw is that the disc is almost entirely devoid of extras! Apart from a short, semi interesting interview and some trailers the disc is barebones which is very disappointing. Not even a commentary track is present! What happened to the ARROW who would jampack their releases with content; posters, comics and documentaries all around!? You can make the argument that the Steelbook itself makes up for these flaws, but that doesn't do it for me.
If this were any other distributer I may have been able to look over these flaws, but when it's coming from the same people who released amazing Blu Ray's of "Battle Royale" and "Dawn of the Dead" it's difficult to be satisfied with their release of Lady Snowblood.
At least the movies themselves look and sound good, but still - It's a disappointing Blu Ray from ARROW!
