Steamy Romance with a Haunting Result, 27 Jan 2013
The title intrigued me and it was everything I thought it would be - a fun, steamy romance where a Scarlet O'Hara type meets her match in a southern Rhett Butler gentleman. A disgraced Viveca Stanhope flees San Francisco after the death of her father and purchase a house in Savannah only to find the square where it is situated as well as the house itself, haunted. As there is no turning back, she finds herself confronted with three strange servants and a house that needs a complete overhaul and a next door neighbor who wants nothing more than for her to be gone. So is her introduction to Maxwell Beecher, her next door neighbor, the black sheep of the wealth town banking family. Viveca takes an instant dislike to the man who appears to spend his time gambling and chasing women. After Viveca meets the local reverend, Father Aubrey Parish, who just happens to be Max's cousin, and he takes her under his wing to introduce her to the local residents. Viveca and Aubrey strike up a friendship which appears to be leading to a wedding when Max steps in. Max finds he is drawn to Viveca and soon realizes that he does not want his cousin married to her. Needless to say, the battle is on between the two of them. With the interference of the ghosts and then Viveca's past catches up with her, it is enchanting story which finally ends well for all those involved. Well worth the read and I look forward to other books by this author.
