3.0 out of 5 stars Overlong and has been done much better elsewhere., 5 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
David Webster seemed to spend most of his war trying to avoid any real action.I think it's overlong and not particularly well written. If you want to really get the lowdown on a great book read 'The Old Breed' by E B Sledge.

Brothers In Arms: Earned In Blood (Xbox)
Brothers In Arms: Earned In Blood (Xbox)

5.0 out of 5 stars realistic, graphic and nearest depiction to actual combat, 5 Mar. 2014
With out a shadow of doubt this is the finest combat simulation game ever produced.
The game 'feels right' and like the real thing if you get hit you stay hit-there's no wandering off to find a little get well box that you can suck on!!
I have personally used the M1 Garand, BAR, Thompson, Colt .45 auto pistol, German K98 Mauser and can assure you that is how they sound- even the way they 'kick' has been accurately programmed into the controller. You DON'T always hit what you are aiming at- in fact most people miss most of the time. In combat you shake, breathe hard and get blurred vision- most of the time you can't see what's going on and you're in a panic trying to stay in one piece.
I played this game in front of my father who had served in the Korean war and he was amazed at how close to reality the play was. The 4F's is what was taught- and still is.
It has a grainy quality to the graphics that is like a newsreel- it's graphics aren't over perfect-then I'm not bothered if I can't count every hair on someones head!!
If you want a game that you can walk through in an hour DON'T waste your money- go and buy MOH or halo or some such fantasy.
If you want something that will actually test your abilities put this on the top level and see what happens.
To sum up- great accuracy-great visuals- some of the buildings actually exist in real life- and a fantastic involving game play.
If only Hells Highway was as good- oh well you can't have it all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do only men get it?, 18 Jun. 2011
This review is from: Field of Dreams [DVD] [1989] (DVD)
The story has been well reviewed. So what makes FOD special? To me it strikes at the fundamental question of how we. that is men, communicate or rather, fail to communicate with our fathers. There is so much I want to tell my father but have never been able to do- am I alone? The final 15 minutes are without question the most moving in film history and every time I watch it I end up in tears. A beautiful film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing and touching film-uplifting., 6 Jun. 2011
Without doubt one of the most moving and touching films I have ever seen-it rates right up there with Amelie. The background and build up to the event and its' consequences are superb. From a war buffs point of view the war scenes are fantastically accurate and are as harrowing as 'Saving Private Ryan'. The film is shot with that washed out- yet crisp- almost sepia tone quality that the French do so well. The acting is of the highest order. Utterly compelling and totally believable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great background to band of Brothers, 6 Jun. 2011
This review is from: Easy Company Soldier (Paperback)
A great insight into those men who served in easy Company- lots of background both pre- and post world war 2 experiences. A bit repetitive but I enjoyed it nevertheless. I would recommend this book.
