2.0 out of 5 stars Give it a miss., 12 April 2015

This got panned by the critics, and they were right to do so. A banal script, ropey visuals, especially the title character's suit and it just seems to go on and on with no surprises and nothing of interest.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rover good, Pattinson bad., 21 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Rover [DVD] [2014] (DVD)
This starts pretty well, Guy Pearce is on good form, their is a general set up of a post-economic collapse Australia (not unlike the first Mad Max film). Life is brutal, etc but its well acted and scripted. Then Robert Pattinson rocks up. From here on the film reeks of having got the OK because Pattinson is attached and he sucks the life out of it, I assume he is trying to build credibility by working with a hot and upcoming director. Despite the setting he is an American yokel, I assume because he could not do a generic Australian accent. Essentially he plays the character as if he is Cletus from the Simpsons. Worst bit is a campfire scene which doesn't really move the plot along but smells of Pattinson trying to be actorly. This would likely have been a four star film but this character just shoots holes in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Large, well designed calendar with a green message, 21 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A large wall calendar with a message that is stronger for being emphasised by great design. The message is a green one, pro-renewables, critical of fossil fuel, with the dates rolled into the design rather than as a box stuck in one corner. Not great for keeping all your info by a date but something that looks good on the wall. Sturdy and a great way to get away from kitten calendars.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, 14 Aug. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The weakest Dredd stories for a long time. Swierczynski has no feel for the character or his world and isn't helped by some weak art. His stories take the elements of classic Dredd but do nothing new or interesting with them. A wasted opportunity.

The kindle version has been poorly converted. The panels are often only partially visible and the movement from one to the next stutters.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy!, 11 Jun. 2014
This is what my employer provided for me and it is truly hopeless. It is unable to run even basic office functions without hanging. (Not Responding) has become as familiar to me as a brother. the keyboard I set up such that it is impossible type without the cursor jumping around within the text. If I wash my hands the mousepad stops being able to pick up on my fingers so is useless. It also fails to fit with the docking station that was bought with it and which is the right one according to the codes. Basically this is a crock.

2.0 out of 5 stars Adds little to the first cut, 8 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was hoping this would be a bit better in the director's cut, it isn't, though this film is still groundbreaking in allowing Crowe to use accents from all over the English speaking world in a single role. Still no idea about the pony.

1.0 out of 5 stars Laugh free, 8 Mar. 2014
This review is from: The Heat (DVD)
I had heard this was OK but I managed about three chuckles, not sure why they felt it was necessary to drag this out to nearly 2 hours, the material doesn't justify it. The film tells on the central characters being mismatched but the writing is lazy, Bullock is supposed to be unlikeable but w only have the say so of other characters, she seems pretty normal. McCarthy's character on the other hand is played way over the top so that she is intolerable. There is kettle chemistry and few jokes.

2.0 out of 5 stars Trip back to VHS B movies, 8 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This reminded me of the SF B-movies I used to watch on VHS from the local video shop in the 1990s. Badly scripted, badly acted and lousy effects. Adds nothing to BSG, don't be sucked in by the name (like me).

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very interesting 'bad history', 15 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This pretty much picks on the the topics you will have heard of as not being accurate history and sticks them all in one volume without much in the way of insight or wit. Gladiators: thumbs up or down? Yawwwn. A typical kindle cheap book: doesn't cost much, isn't worth much.
