5.0 out of 5 stars Great new stories, 13 Feb 2014
Just to make this clear, as some sites don't, this is not a box set of any of the other Big Finish stories previously released on their own. This set comprises four entirly new but interlinking stories placed from before Holmes and Watson met to the last being after The Last Bow. They work very well and fit into the cannon very well and one can wonder if Doyle had wanted to carry on would he have toyed with ideas like these. Well worth the effort to get hold of and exciting to hear.

Season four really hit the ground running, really finding it's Mojo again. Anthony Head is a great villain and no panto villian either. Fun and dark bits and danger too.

3.0 out of 5 stars No Orson Wells, 3 Dec 2013
This review is from: The 3rd Man (Audio CD)
I got this as a gift from a friend who knows I like old radio shows. I whould like to make it clear that Orson Wells does not appear in this production at any point, or had involvment in it's production. This production was made by the LUX soap people which sprinkle their ads liberaly in the breaks and happened well after the famous film. It appears that LUX did radio plays based around fairly recent sucessful films of the time, having looked at my fave old time radio web site a series of 'prequel' shows useing Harry Lime ware made and are still available. The show is not as good as the film but compared to radio plays of the era and type is quite good. Two of the original stars from the film do reprise their roles, one being Joseph Cotton as Mr Martin and the leading lady who's name slips my memory playing Anna Shmitt. A different actor takes on the role of Harry Lime but lacks the cold charm that Orson Wells gave the role, the Cuckoo clock speech that Mr Wells made live in your memory is almost forgettable in this. It's an interesting curio but should not have Orson Wells name attached to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars great film, 20 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I took a gamble on this USA region1 bluray after reading a number of reviews that it would in fact play on R2 players and at such a fair price it was worth a punt. Well it does play very happily on my Sony which is some years old but I would advise to make sure your firmwear is updated which can be found on the makers web site. It's a movie I am very fond of and is much brighter in bluray though I could still see some movement of film in it's frame that I thought could have been fixed in restoration but only very minor and otherwise much better than DVD copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Corks, what fun!, 6 Aug 2013

Another great series and having them spend time in 1968 was great fun. I have enjoyed the previous four and I can't wait for series six now, just seems to get better each series.

5.0 out of 5 stars worth buying again in bluray, 17 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I love this film and have since I first saw it. This bluray print is much better than my old DVD version. The colors are brighter and sharper, the sound is clearer too. Well worth the upgrade cost.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but not the best of., 15 Sep 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Not the best of Bob, I'm sure the BBC could easily find much better bits of Bob but these are interesting rare items for fans that you might not have heard. Also the track listing inside doesn't match up with that displyed on the CD track list. It's all there on discs just differently.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deserves better treatment, 7 Aug 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a wonderful series that ITV seem to treat in an off hand way. No contents list on case and I feel it could do well on the freeview channels here. And no UK bluray! Lords do I hate regions.
