4.0 out of 5 stars excellent for the price, 20 Mar. 2015
The reviews for this frother were good and compared to other more complicated models, the price was amazing. When the product arrived I was not disappointed. Heating milk in a separate mug in my microwave I then poured the milk into the frother and 30 seconds of vigorous pumping later I had a thick foam any barrister would be proud of. Why not 5 stars then? Because the frother has to have a minimum milk level to work and that minimum level is quite high. This means I can't use it if I am only making coffee for 1. In fact the minimum is froth for 4 cappuccinos.

If you were making lattes or hot chocolate it would be OK however as more milk is needed.

Powerful Mind Through Self-hypnosis: A Practical Guide to Complete Self-mastery
Powerful Mind Through Self-hypnosis: A Practical Guide to Complete Self-mastery
by Cathal O'Briain
Edition: Paperback
Price: £14.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent introduction to this topic, 29 April 2014

If you want to learn what hypnosis and hypnotherapy are and how to create your own hypnosis scripts to deal with your own problems then this is the book for you.

Be aware that hypnosis for change is a tool used by therapists, if you want to instigate real change then you must first understand the reasons for your problems, this is often something that is only possible through a third party perspective.

Whatever you do with this book, don't expect it to give you any greater understanding of yourself.

3.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring stuff, but not a life-changer, 29 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you find dificulty in social situations or in standing up for yourself, just trying anything to overcome it is positive. Marisa Peer talks a lot about being a positive and self assured person and her hypnosis CD is as good as any other.

Did it change me from a wallflower to a social butterfly? Am I now the happiest man on the planet?

No.

Sorry to anyone looking for an overnight personality changer but this isnt it. It is a help, it is a tool, it is similar to the Paul McKenna books.

If you want to instigate change in your confidence then this is a good place to start, but I would suggest you buy a few more books too, listen to the hypnosis, and above all force yourself to do things you don't feel confident in. A little secret is that most people feel a lack of confidence, it is how they deal with it that makes the difference.

Build Your Own Database Driven Web Site Using PHP & MySQL
Build Your Own Database Driven Web Site Using PHP & MySQL
by Kevin Yank
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for a beginner or intermediate designer, 29 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was looking for a book to hold my hand through the process of learning PHP and MYSQL and this book did just that. Kevin Yank's friendly and informative writing style perfectly fits this project based book which takes you through the basics of PHP and MYSQL while learning how to use them in a real world example.

By the end of the book you will be able to build a completely interactive web site complete with secure areas and a payment system.

Since this book was written some things have changed, but every piece of code is still valid. I would recommend that you buy a book on Javascript too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every web designer should read this, 29 April 2014
I read the first edition of this book many years ago and it completely transformed my understanding of web design.

Before I read this book I knew of two elements to building web pages; The code, and the graphics. After I read it I knew of a third, the user experience.

Put in simple terms this book helps you to understand what a visitor to your site wants, and helps you to give it to them. When we search on the web, we expect the information we want to just be there, we don't want to figure out navigation, read hundreds of words or work anything out. This book gives the designer the best chance at getting as close to this experience as possible for as many people as possible.

If you are a web designer looking to be better or just starting out looking to learn the ropes, buy this book. Oh and save yourself a lot of hassle and buy these too:

Don't make me think - Usability and user experience
Webs of influence - Psychology of presentation
100 things every designer needs to know about people - More psychology
Letting go of the words - Organising information, content strategy, how to be succinct
HTML 5 in easy steps - The code for structuring your web sites
CSS3 in easy steps - Presenting that code with style
Javascript in easy steps - Making interactive things happen
