Bulgakov is one of my faviorate authors and this is one of his best books. All round a great story well worth reading.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wes Anderson's first and worst film, 8 May 2007
This review is from: Bottle Rocket [DVD] (DVD)
I love most of Wes Anderson's films, but this one, his first, is not up to the standard of his later ones! His characteristic style of humor which made films like the Royal Tenenbaums and the Life Aquatic so great is lacking and without it this film is just a little dull.

3.0 out of 5 stars Deeply disappointing, 13 April 2007
This review is from: Doctor Zhivago (Paperback)
I found this book a very disappointing. It is certainly not the 'greatest Russian novel ever written' nor the most 'sublime love story ever told'. Doctor Zhivago is a difficult character to like and as such the novel is unengaging and at times a difficult read. This novel is interesting as an historical account of the Russian revolution and its effects on ordinary people, however other authors have captured this time more compellingly. If you're looking for a taste of Russian literature, I'd suggest trying Solzhenitsyn's or Bulgakov's books instead.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not up to Attenborough's Standards, 21 Mar 2007
I was a little disapointed with this film. It isn't a patch on David Attenborough's Blue Planet and Life In the Freezer series - which I loved. There are some impressive camera shots but the film as a whole didn't manage to hold my attention. Worth renting not buying.

2.0 out of 5 stars Should have stayed as a comic!, 21 Mar 2007
This review is from: Sin City [DVD] [2005] (DVD)
The visuals aren't really my style but I liked the attempt to make a film that looks different. Unfortunately everything else about this film was terrible! It's disjointed, incoherent and the characters lack depth - you don't care if they live or die you just want the film to end. If you like watching gore with no substance this is for you, it wasn't for me.
