5.0 out of 5 stars The Best album I've bourght in a long time!!, 4 Mar. 2001
This review is from: Black Market Music (Audio CD)
Being I crazed Placebo fan from the start..with the release of Nancy Boy all those years ago..People who say..Placebo haven't developed needd their heads seeing to.I'm infactuated at the way all these songs are written..the hidden meanings and of course Brain, Stafen and Dave.Together they have brought me at least hope, got me through tought times. Where without U I'm nothing is based around lost relationships this album is bases around New Ones and Untold ones. People don't seem to realalise that 90% of the songs placebo write are not from self experience. This album contains such beautiful songs such as Blue America, Peeping Tom, Passive Agressive and Black Market Music (the hidden track). It also contains hints of placebo next move with Slave To The Wage, Taste In Men and of course Spite and Malice..Special K is a fantasic Song as is Hemoglobin and yes that track that nobody can every remember the name of Narcoleptic. It's a fantasic album and it takes a bit of time to understand wat it's all about..and where it may not be as complete as Without You I'm Nothing..it doesn't need to make an effort to stand alone..I would be very excitied..I've seen them live and it just doesn't compare..It's just a whole lot better..Buy Buy Buy....

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic.., 13 Feb. 2001
This review is from: Tragic Kingdom (Audio CD)
No Doubt..Oh it's just another ska/punk band..err..wrong. No Doubt are one of the best kept secrets from the later 80's and through the 90's. Tragic Kingdom has just gotta be one of the best albums ever made. It's just packed full of energy with every song, all of which are completley different to each other. From Spidersweb..a really get up and dance till you drop kinda song to Just A Girl to my personal favoruite Different People..To the fantastic Sixteen and Sunday morning to Don't Speak finishing off with Tragic Kingdom..It's full of power and emmotion. With Gwen..using her voice which is amazing to win over me at least, Tony is a fantastic bassits, and being one myself i love playing the songs live it's such a joy. The keyboardist is fantastic and i love playing the parts as well as the guitar. With break beats, interesting rhythms. This isn't Ska Punk this is Punk even this is No Doubt..they have their own style, I've looked high and low for another band like em..but I guess Less Than Jake will have to do.Return of Saturn is a fantastic follow up, but Tragic Kingdom holds a very special place in my heart and stis pride of place next to my Chili Pepppers, Rage and NIN albums..buy it now you just have to and clear your room so you can dance the nite away...

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably one of the most beautiful pieces of music..ever, 26 Jan. 2001
This review is from: Kid A (Audio CD)
I have been a radiohead fan for many years now, and "Fake Plastic Tree's" is still on of my all time favourite tracks..but this, this is something completely different. Kid A has taken the musical talent of the boys from the UK and stretched them to new hights. I love atmospheric music it's one of the most difficult types of music to composse, because everything has to be precise as it's all heard, to say that it's rubbish, is just amazing. It reminds me, of one of my favourite albums..Brian Eno/Bang On The Can - Music For Airports. The looped keyboards and string arrangemnts are master pieces.Being a talented musicain myself I sat down and tried to work out how it was constructed..what made it tick,..for all you music people out there, it's full of imperfect cadences, and lovely rich, romantic style chords that resolve and turn in to dimished chords to augumented. It's pure geniues. Treefingers is pehapps my favourite song on the album but In Limbo is a very beautiful track. The multitracking techniques used are amazing.Radiohead still need to concentrate on getting the multitrack deeper and richer,I'm saying i could do it better, but my hero Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails..coupled with Alan Moulder are the multitrack kings with an average multitrack number of 94 different track, some went beyond 200. Kid A...is still rich and deep and beautiful,,but where does it stand, it's not a pop album or a rock album or an experimental album, it's more an ambient/relaxation album. The only thing I hope is that people respect it for the master piece it is, and not discard it because it doesn't have a nice twidderly guitar part or the renching vocal line and I hope it doesn't get lost the same way that the Aphex Twin's "Selected Ambient Works Volumne I and II) did. Order it now..you'll love it I asure you,,but don't have preconceptions or you maybe disspointed..

5.0 out of 5 stars The May be Gone, but They will Live On, 4 Jan. 2001
I was really upset when I heard of Rage's splitting, well the lose of Zac at any count is enough to ruin what I consider to probably the best political Funk/Punk around. I refrain from using Hip Hop Metal, as I can't stand the term. With hard hitting Guitar riffs from Marello who, hands down is one of the best guitairist around. Zac's lyrics and hard edge voice makes everybody listen and dance a way all night long. The Bassis Tim, well he's just pure funk, he's not a patch on Flea from the Chili Peppers, but being a funk bassis myself I just love playing the funky slap riffs. The Drummer, who's name esacpes me (sorry :-P) is tight and precise. RATM's first album is the best they've done. With that well known anthem Killing In The Name, along with the opus of Know Your Enermy. Take The Power Back, is my personal favourite (for the bass riff). Wake Up, is still the best song of the Matrix sound track. Settle For Nothing, is the boobby track for me, but it's still fantastic. If you like this type of music, then RATM maybe be overshadowed by the Chili Peppers (in my eyes anyway) but they are dead.By this album and you'll get all the pleasure you'll need, showing Korn, Limp Bizkit and the likes how it's done. I think the perfect bill would be Chili Peppers, with RATM and OMS surporting.
Bye Bye Bye Bye Now...
You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic..just amazing, 17 Dec. 2000
Okay then..you will see more of my review under such artists as Korn, Maryiln Manson, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. So why you might add am I writing a review for a classical album. why?/..because it's just so good.being a classically trained musician I tried to understand how it was contructed. This album has some of the most beautiful harmonies in, with minor and major and loads of diminished feels. It takes you on a journey through life. The piano coupled with the haunting Cello and CounterBass just drifts you off into another world. This is such a mordern album in it's construction and it's cord sequences. Jon Lord responsible for much of the Highway Star sound has excelled himself even after his Sarabande Cd.If you buy one Classical album (that really isn't classical) then it got to be this one. It relax but it inspired me and I'm just getting loads of writting techniques and I hope to produce an album of a similar nature. Fantastic

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic's Just Pure Classic's, 31 Oct. 2000
What hasn't already been said about RHCP?..well the fact that their earlier albums are just as good as BSSM and Califonication. mother's milk is my opinion is the best of the 3. Freaky Style is fantastic (yertle the turtle is funny and a real gem) and UMPP is slighty different the normal RHCP. No longer do I have to nick my bro's collection I have my own and so should you buy buy buy..

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Album I've Bourght This Year, 6 Aug. 2000
Wow...Being a Bit of a RATM virgin and much prefering the Chili's as my fav Hip Hop/Metal Band I bourght this album after hearing what I consider to be RATM's best track 'Killing In The Name".This Album blew me away completley and is as good as my all time fav album Chili's Blood Sugar Sex Magik. It's by far on of the inavative albums out there.... This is just mind blowingly good..it doesn't matter if your 16, 26 or 46 if you can put up with occasional bit of bad language (which please note I don't care About) then this album will send you spinning and wanting more..though where is Autologic? ...A Song that isn't on any oof their albums..
Bye It...

4.0 out of 5 stars Again,,no improvment on PHM, 4 July 2000
This review is from: FIXED (Audio CD)
After the breath taking Pretty Hate Machine and the fabulous Broken..Fixed was a bit of a let down for many..It is primarly just re-mixed and different versions of songs on the Broken EP..With Fist F*** being perhapps the greatest let down for me...Screaming Slavery is an interesting mixed of Industrial and Techno which isn't really NIN at all but there's not getting away from the fact that Fixed and Broken broke cover to let perhapps the most significant album in NIN's caterlog 'The Downward Spiral' to take over and become a huge success....

4.0 out of 5 stars 99 Tracks?, 4 July 2000
This review is from: Broken EP (Audio CD)
Well just like Fixed..Broken is a Half way between Album and Single..with 6 tracks and two hidden ones...(Physical and Suck)..Only Trent could put 99 tracks on a CD and get away with it..(he did it again on Marilyn Mansons Antichrist Superstar)..This EP starts with Pinion and grown from their on to explode in to Last the 3rd track and in my opinion one of the best NIN songs..Happiness in Slavery is a great song but the re-write of the classis Adam and the Ant's Physical (oh so--) is a masterpiece and has spawned many a re-mix since..Suck for me is the most accessible song on hear but Gave Up for me was a bit of a disappointment..but hey there is always Fixed...
I only give it 4 stars because it really isn't a big improvment on PHT...
