Never Forgotten (Never Forgotten Series)
Never Forgotten (Never Forgotten Series)

4.0 out of 5 stars a simple tale, well told, 23 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have read a good bit of YA fiction, and have not been impressed. This book, however, was different. Not only was it beautifully written, it was well written and proof read, unlike the majority of fiction books on Kindle. The plot was very simple but well thought out, the characters were believable, which is so important in a fantasy book, and I read it in one sitting. The story is about a teenage girl who is forced to move home from mainstream America to Canada because her mother has cancer. After years of being estranged from her grandparents, she has to adjust to living with them as well as all the other transition caused by moving to a new place. Then her long lost father, who abandoned her and her mother, comes back into the picture, and he has a secret that could wreak havoc with her new life. I won't say any more, this was free when I bought it, so just read it! Unike the majority of YA fantasy, this I recommend.

I feel out of step with the other reviews here, because I found the book quite dull. Anna, mum of two, and Research Fellow, has gone to live on Colsay, a Scottish island, where her husband Giles, who owns said island, is trying to build an eco paradise. However, he's too busy counting puffins to realise that Anna is struggling to cope with being hemmed in with two small children, and supposedly writing a book. Then infant remains are found during their attempt to plant trees and Anna becomes obsessed with the dead baby. The plot is also interspersed with letters written by a Victorian nurse about her attempts to educate the islanders, and the arrival of a dysfunctional family to the holiday cottage. And so on. While the novel has some interesting things to say about the Highland clearances, it was neither unputdownable or funny. I found it unpickupable and repetitive, as well as a bit precious. The upper middle class family call their children Raphael - well you wouldn't him to get teased at school would you?! - and Moth, short for Ti-moth-y, geddit? The characters were either full on or scantily drawn, and the most interesting character was the tourist's teenage daughter, Zoe. This could have been a sharp satire on how the upper classes go to isolated places full of new age eco pipe dreams and fall on their faces. but it turned out to be a rather whiny saga about people who have it all and still can't cope. Spare me.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I couldn't really say that I enjoyed it. Maggie moves from Chicago, with her parents, to Door County. Money is tight. Maggie falls in with a rich girl, called Pauline, and her lifelong friend, Liam. Two things happen to disturb her happiness. One, she falls for Liam, but he loves Pauline. Two, there's a serial killer targeting young girls. There is also a ghost haunting her house. who is trying to remember who they were, which is where the title of the book comes from. It's well written, and the characters are lovingly defined. However, it is not that much of a story, which was confusing. The plot is okay, but there isn't a lot to keep turning the pages for and the twist in the tale wasn't much of one. It was a book to while away an hour rather than savour. I enjoyed this author's previous book, 'Wildthorn' and I would read her work in future, as her writing style is obviously developing, but this book didn't do it for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is a smart looking bit of kit, 9 July 2014
this is a smart looking bit of kit, which I was given to review. I was impressed right away though, as It powered my laptop, cellphone and tablet and comes with adapters for most makes of same. It's also lightweight, easy to carry round on the built in keychain, so no matter where I am, my gadgets are fully charged! The price is good too, so you can't go wrong with this quality item

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent!, 9 July 2014
I was given this to review, and Have used it a number of times in the kitchen already. It is easy to use and clean, comes with the neat cover and extends as well. That makes it a must for my homemade marmalade, as it can be programmed to reach setting point. The readout is nice and big, excellent for us oldies with not quite perfect eyesight, and the whole is powered by an LR44 battery. I'm pretty chuffed with this little beauty.

5.0 out of 5 stars okay I'm hooked!, 9 July 2014
I was given this for review and am very pleased - what a crafty little gadget! At the moment I have this well designed piece hanging on the fridge... I can time things I am cooking, then take it with me wherever I go because the lanyard goes round the neck, making it useful for exercise. Then I can take it to bed so I get an alarm call in the morning. I am sure there are uses I haven't discovered for it yet... recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars very pleased with this little doodad, 9 July 2014
I was sent this to review and I must say, it's another winner from Inateck. I was able to upgrade my system easily without fuss, it's simple and straight forward to use and easily fitted the small socket on my tower unit. The disc was also easy to run, nothing complicated there and it was all done in a trice, no muss, no fuss. For another 2 sockets, it's a reasonable price to pay and it's a good quality item. Impressed.

4.0 out of 5 stars very useful, 9 July 2014
I was given this for review. That said, it's a nice solid piece of kit, easy to set up, even for a non techie like me, and with no need for extra cables, installation discs etc. My computer has just had an upgrade, it's a few years old and this docking station makes a good addition to its set up. It's a good price too, so you can't go far wrong with this product

i just bought this for my Kindle, and really enjoyed it. Favourite song so far is 'sunny days' but then, the whole album is so good, it is hard to choose. Great songs, interwoven with spoken extracts, this is a little gem and I can't wait to get the other two albums on download

This little gem takes me back to my wild and misspent youth. David Byron was a very underrated vocalist, IMHO, and backed by Hensley and co, this makes for one hell of an album. Classic Heep at their very best - what more can I say?
