Being a bit of a mystery junkie I picked this book purely on the synopsis on the back and I was not disappointed! Once I picked up this book it was almost impossible to put it down again. The style of the novel reminds me of Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series but without the distance. The author has no qualms at all with bringing you all the gory details and taking you to places that are a little disturbing. Having said that, her treatment of the issues she covers are done in a sensitive way; the reader is actually drawn into the full horror of the situation and made to experience what is going on in the victim's mind.
It's hard to say much more without ruining an excellent story. Buy this book now, get a blanket and a bottle of wine and make sure you have someone in the house with you!
