2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Lipstick Jungle, 13 Mar 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I don't think that this is comparable to Sex and the City, not because I'n a fanatic but because they're two completely different types of show. It's more akin to Lipstick Jungle but not nearly as good. The characters just never really seemed to develop and there were no memorable plots.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay but a bit drawn out, 20 Feb 2009
I really wanted to like this and the social history side was interesting, but I felt that it was very drawn out. I would have liked it more as an extended article in a sunday supplement. Borrow rather than buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Erudite but accessible and enjoyable, 20 Feb 2009
You don't have to be a history scholar to learn from and thoroughtly enjoy this. I particularly liked the mini-biographies of the major players that make up the first chapters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than a novel, 20 Feb 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I liked this very much. All the great (actually sometimes quite vile) people and events of the age are here and I felt like I was being presented with a fair picture of the characters of the sisters. It inspired me to read a few other books of the era, but none have been as enjoyable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, 20 Feb 2009
I don'k know how the makers managed to make a really good book into such a boring film and the budget was obviously there but somehow it feels very made-for-tv.

1.0 out of 5 stars Appalling, 20 Feb 2009
This review is from: 27 Dresses [DVD] [2008] (DVD)
I like a good romantic comedy every now and then. This is not one. Dull, not funny, no attractive leading man. Much better off re-watching Pretty Woman or Bridget Jones.

5.0 out of 5 stars A stand-out crime thriller, 20 Feb 2009
This is really gripping with characters as well as plot lines that sweep you along and seem very real. Very much looking forward to the next two in the trilogy

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 12 Jan 2009
This review is from: Super-Cannes (Paperback)
This is a book that can stand to be re-read, it's intelligent but also very entertaining (in a dark sort of way.) Comparisons are odious but I will say that it's better than Cocaine Nights.

I bought this for a friend's child and then had to go and get another copy for myself because it makes me laugh every time I look through it. I can honestly say it's one of my favourite books!
