3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent movie but cheapest BD version has a UV-only extra, 24 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The film is as good as everyone else says, good to ditch almost everything you saw in Richard Donner's and Bryan Singer's treatment of Superman and also John Williams's theme and go somewhere else with it.

Why only three stars? If you buy the cheapest (10-12.99) version then the chief extra feature, an almost 90 minute making of documentary, is used as a gateway into making you sign up to Flixster to redeem the Ultraviolet version of the film. I got caught out this time and now know that you have to get the Blu Ray with the 3D copy if you want all your Blu Ray extras on the discs in the box without needing a computer or tablet. Great film which feels like a much more fun rollercoaster ride the second time you see it, shame it was given the Avengers treatment in this way.

A Stolen Life
A Stolen Life
by Jaycee Lee Dugard
Edition: Hardcover
Price: 11.99

5.0 out of 5 stars The book behind the headlines of two years ago in Dugard's own words, 3 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: A Stolen Life (Hardcover)
It's the fact that there are handwritten diary extracts from captivity that make this book a real book, a Kindle or Ebook version wouldn't cause the same emotional reaction as seeing this kidnap survivor's own handwriting there on the page.

Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student Edition (3 User Licence) (PC)

Price: 134.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value for non-students, 3 Mar 2013

This is a good package for a family with multiple computers which all require Office on them. More recently I haven't seen anything similar for the 2010 or 2013 versions but I assume they will be released in the future, until then you can stick with an older version as long as you know the interface changes.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's not the peak of So and Us together but still good, 3 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Up (Audio CD)
A good signing off by Peter Gabriel if he's not going to make any more brand new studio albums (I say that since in 2013 Gabriel will re-release the So album and tour with it again). The Barry Williams Show is one of the standout tracks but as always with Gabriel it's a whole-album ride and it grows on you and hangs together well.

Suffer the Children

3.0 out of 5 stars Good enough debut, 3 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Suffer the Children (Paperback)
This was an above average debut although there was the usual struggle to balance the "lead cop with issues" with the story, though that seems to be normal for English crime writers. The story's thankfully powerful enough to pull few punches and keep you hooked, so it was worth reading and if DI Wagstaffe had issues he wasn't allowed to dwell or wallow in them for long.

I avoided the sample chapter of one of Creed's other books but will still take a look at his future work.

Doctor Who: The War Machines [DVD]
Doctor Who: The War Machines [DVD]
Dvd ~ William Hartnell
Price: 7.50

4.0 out of 5 stars A classic, nice trip down memory lane to watch a Hartnell story, 3 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
War Machines is an excellent story that had nothing to do with the Daleks for a change, and forced you to use your imagination. The extras which give the background of how the show was restored for digital remastering are also short but as always with Doc Who, as interesting as the story itself. If you're a fan you already have it but if you want to introduce anyone to the older stories this wouldn't be bad.

Silent Scream
Silent Scream
by D. G. Mackean
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars Short but incredibly powerful, 3 Mar 2013

This review is from: Silent Scream (Hardcover)
Excellent if heart-rending autobiography and I prefer this pocket hardback version which was easier to read on the move and more hard wearing for a cheap price.

Windows 7 For Dummies Book and DVD Bundle
Windows 7 For Dummies Book and DVD Bundle
by Andy Rathbone
Edition: Paperback
Price: 14.39

4.0 out of 5 stars DVD makes the package complete, still useful now if choosing Win 7 over Win 8, 3 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Handy package including a DVD to actually bring the book to life and which you can actually play on the Operating System desktop with a DVD drive if you don't have a TV in the same room as the computer.

24 - Season 8 [DVD]
24 - Season 8 [DVD]
Dvd ~ Kiefer Sutherland
Offered by HarriBella.UK.Ltd
Price: 22.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent ending to the series, 3 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: 24 - Season 8 [DVD] (DVD)
Since the action moved to a different city it was the right time to finish the series before it turned into CSI or NCIS and like earlier series it started off with a separate main plot and then Jack and his family, as with many other series, were drawn into and mixed up in the action. The difference this time is that there was a series of no-going-back plot twists this time so that any film would have to be a prequel to avoid being too close to the Bourne movies.

In addiction level terms it also deliberately doesn't hook you in straight away but by around episode 10, that's when the rollercoaster starts properly - well worth it, but of course the complete box set generally costs around 50 which is the only reason not to buy this box set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, strong, plastic tray, goes well with any tin released at the time, 3 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Used this purchase to update the now worn-out Charles and Di Royal Wedding tray and tin as a gift for a relative- wipe clean plastic very useful though it's not naturally scratch-resistant.
