4.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best New 52 Graphic Novel to date, 29 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Probably the best New 52 Graphic Novel to date. But the bar has been set pretty low so Im not sure how much that counts for. Anyway, there are some good fights and injuries, all of which heal within a page which is a bit stupid but at least it showed them getting hurt. They survived something they shouldnt which was silly, especailly if it hurt the bad guys. But I guess you have to allow some room for story progression. But give it a go as its a good read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay. But could have been so much more., 29 Nov. 2014
This is a review of the DVD

It didn't really do much for me. Perhaps I am so use to his amusing stories on Mock the Week, or one-liners on Good News. But in this show there was none of those. It felt padded out with bits of business that didn't really go anywhere. I would have loved for him to have incoporated the style of his TV shows into this theatre show as it would have been differnt to the other twenty stand-up comedy dvd releases this week. Instead its just more of the same. Like some of the others, it might be wise to wait until it comes down in price before buying.

I don't remember any of the stories or jokes. None of the one-liners I bothered to write down or remember. I cant even remember him saying any but he must have done. It was easily forgettable as he didn't connect with the audience or give us a reason to care about him or what he had to say.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wanted to like it more than I did., 29 Nov. 2014
I bought the Dvd - so this is a review of that.

I love him on Not Going Out and Would I lie to You: I am a fan. Firstly he swears a lot - this isnt a Christmas present for your Grandma Material (unless your from Liverpool where your Grandma is 34 years old).

He lacks substance in his patter. He didnt have many one-liners and there weren't many stories which had set-ups and then a punchline. The majority of his act was talking to the audience and trying to make jokes out of what they say.
He messed up a number of gags and had to repeat them. He mentioned the DVD recording several times and the fact that he had reminder notes at the front of the stage. A number of jokes didn't get a big reaction, but they left in anyway because to,remove them would have made the show even shorter. At least they didnt try and cover the bad gag with a fake audinece laughter track like some other DVDs.

He shouts a lot thinking its comical but really it just comes across as arrogant. He did come across as a little smug and full of himself. Then he starts with Jimmy Saville gags which didn't get any laughs what-so-ever.
I really wanted to like this DVD, but sadly it didnt impress me. The full version with bad language was just an hour long so its a very short show compared to the other releases this year.

With the sheer number of stand-up comedy dvd releases, it may be wise to wait until this one comes down in price before giving it a try. I hope for this next release he actually has something to say - he could have given us some stories about his tv shows, his life as a celebrity and things with a narative, a storyline and an emotional hook. The closest we got was him talking about his kids, but that was it.

I will remain his fan, but this wasn't his best performance in my opinion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Its takes a while to grab you, but will do eventually., 26 Oct. 2014
Took several hours to grab me, and I hated it at the start. But then eventually the story kicked in and I had a reason to care about what was happening. While the movement is not in the same league as Halo, it does do the job and again, after a few hours you come to accept it for what it is, and actually start enjoying the game.

Its cheap, its only one-player, that lasts around 15 hours campaign. If you give it a chance, and I mean a really long chance to win you over, it will do just that. So buy, complete and trade in is my suggestion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a New 52 story worth reading!, 5 Oct. 2014
Finally, a decent story from beginning to end, with no random issues or jumps in plot. I think this is the very first new 52 story I have actually enjoyed and want to read again. There are twists, plans that fail, people that die, and a conclusion that both ends the story and opens up new much needed bad guys for future storylines.

I was actually hoping the JL would remain dead and these bad guys took over the DC universe, as their stories are much more interetsing and feel fresh and new. While I know that was never going to happen, lets hope the writes remember what they achieved here and build on it for the future.

Buy this book, its a great story with cool artwork.

5.0 out of 5 stars India Special is Great, 16 Sept. 2014
India Special is great. The other disc isn't even worth taking out the box. But the India adventure more than makes up the value on this blu-ray.

X-Men: No More Humans
X-Men: No More Humans

Price: £16.99

4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable read, treat it like a what if story., 16 Sept. 2014
This review is from: X-Men: No More Humans (Hardcover)
Loved the idea, thought they could have done a lot more with it though. A little bit too convenient how it all happened and when its revealed, its far to easy to replicate. Artwork is superb and paper quality is nice as another reviewer stated.
An enjoyable read but its obviously a separate event from the real marvel universe, because if machines like this could be made in that universe, it would pretty much end every storyline they ever have.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stop putting random issues in the middle of another books story., 16 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The first five issues make up two complete, but highly under uterlised stories. Its good to finally see Supes win a fight and finish of the enemy rather than have them run away. But they are both too short and the alien magic monster especially should have been more of a threat. He was set-up as a destroyer of worlds, with a power set that could defeat an entire planet of Supermen, and magic powers that would have put Superman down instantly. But then the fight happens and its over with in one page.
Then the psi war issue 2 comic appears in the middle and ruins that entire story for me. I don't know whose job it is to compile these graphic novels together, but they should be fired. This mixing of stories with random issues is happening a lot and needs to stop.
