5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant surprise that I will watch over, and over again., 31 Dec. 2014
I read the other reviews and was ready to hate this, but to my surprise it was actually pretty good.

The show is basically ten minute segments of his shows around the world, featuring all his topical and geographical material. So what you are seeing is ALL NEW JOKES. When he toured live, he did his standard routines and was able to fit in some new specialized material at each show, for that country only. This DVD features all that specialized material.

However it is edited together well and you can watch it like a full TV Special, which is what it is.

On that note, this is very family friendly material. Almost all the swearing has been completely removed (in the version I watched anyway). Ive watched him live and he swears a lot, so either I watched a review copy or this is a TV Friendly edit, which is actually a good thing as it makes it far more enjoyable.

There are several stand-out moments like when he brings Ahmed out in Dubai and Israel. Its nice to see that he was willing to be edgy and not shy away from material that could get him into trouble.

This is in my opinion better than his previous releases as its all current and topical and I do recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Has its stand-out moments and jokes that fall flat also. But overall a good show., 4 Dec. 2014
This review is of the DVD, although I have seen it live also.

There are some awkward moments in this show that stand-out as uncomfortable. As a fan, I have watched her previous products and know a bit about her life. So to bring out a puppet in reference to a dark point of it is simply not funny. There is also a very serious mental health issue that she talks about a lot, which she tries to pretend is funny, until she brings out a few puppets that no normal person would use.
To say the show is dark would not be the right word, the show is "uncomfortable". She makes light of very depressing things like death and euthanasia. You can feel the tension in the air and the audience not laughing.

Nina's reactions to her puppets are what brings levity to the show, and she is funny. There are some great lines but some of them you will have heard before. How many times can she use the microphones on the monkey messing up the illusion joke before it gets repetative.

Still, I give the DVD four stars because she is doing something daring, risky and experimental. I have watched lots of vents and most play it safe and copy vents of the past. She is at least trying to be original, and using puppets we havent seen before. While not every jokes hits its mark and some routines are questionable to say the least, she is doing her own unique show and that deserves great respect and admiration.
While I do hope that her next show is a little lighter and less about death (both spoken and unspoken - you know what I mean) she is prehaps the best ventriloquist working today.

As strange as this may sound - I would like to see her do some childrens parties and learn from them. Puppets don't have to be depressing just because your working mainly for adults. I believe that the children can help her write routines and gags that enhance the show and prevent her from writing more depressing material - looking for the joy in the puppet rather than the worst.

I do recomend you buy this DVD, and her previous two stand-up DVDs if you havent seen them either. All three of them are entertaining to watch, but her others are prehaps more fun which have more repeat viewing potential.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow. The best stand-up DVD released in years!, 3 Dec. 2014

Wow. The best stand-up DVD released in years!

Let me start with the negatives. The show was recorded in a small theater and I still saw a few empty seats (although it was mostly full). There is nothing to the set. The microphone had a slight echo to it and the titles felt very 'home-movie' style. It definitely feels as though this DVD was produced on a streamline budget.

However what it makes up for in technical style, it more than surpasses ten-fold on content and quality. Jim should be headlining Mock the Week. His writing is so very clever. The whole show was written to build, progress and find punchlines in otherwise dark material. He opens up with some nice observation comedy before divulging into the bad year. While the transition to it is notably awkward - that's the only way to approach it and wow, does he find the laughter in the madness.
His one-liners are perfectly timed and his stories are captivating. He could have perhaps built up the ending better, as I wanted to give him a standing ovation even from my own home, while watching the DVD. But he basically ended the story he was on and the audience didn't know it was the end of the whole show, and not just that story. When they realized it was the end, they all stood up for him - which he truly deserved. But that's partly the problem of being such a great storyteller - your so drawn in to what he is saying that you just don't want him to end!

Its 86 minutes long and includes a bunch of extras lasting 20 minutes.

He does swear a lot, which was off-putting for a while and so it does earn its 15 certificate. I am very much against swearing but his stories and jokes made sticking with him worth it.

I was never really a fan of Jim before this DVD. I knew off him but never watched his TV shows. I have watched all the stand-up DVDs released for the last few years and this is now in my top five of all time. Quality writing with a heartfelt delivery. a winning combination!

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been so much more., 29 Nov. 2014

It only features four maps. Each map is supposably set on a different planet, but its still small and boring. Go to one area, shoot the aliens and move on. If you explore a building not part of the story you are on, you die because your character has not leveled up enough to go there yet.
I got to level 10 and quit the game, putting Titanfall back in the machine.

The multiplayer was heavily uneven when I played it. Yet more patches have been released to correct this but I havent bothered downloading them. I'm fed up of buying half completed games that require additional updates to get them working.

It should have been better, but it sadly is just boring.

I hate when they kill characters and then find weak ways to bring them back. The end of the story is wrapped up pretty quickly and conveniently also. It starts off strong though and is worth reading.

It works, but does not fit on my Griffin case so have been unable to use it. Instead I have used a round plastic drink lid and cellotaped it to the case which does the same job.

3.0 out of 5 stars It has its moments. I watched it to the end which is saying something., 29 Nov. 2014

It has its moments. Its like American Pie - UK style. The sexual references are frequent which is when its at its lowest. Surprisingly its when it stops doing them and concentrates on the plot and other style of humor which is when it shines. And while there are long gaps between those moments, there are enough of them to stick with it to end.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broken game that has now lost its online community., 29 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Faulty Multiplayer means I have to give this a bad review. I dont really care that the one-player game worked - I had already completed that on the 360 and bought this for the online action. But three weeks of bugs and bad connections and the entire online community has now gone. Even if they were able to fix it, its too late. The gamers have moved onto GTA and other games that actually do work.

As for the upgraded one-player games, yes they are upgraded but to 360 quality. They are not xbox one quality like the critics have said. Other games lik Far Cry 4 and Shadow of Mordor really show the graphic capabilities of this console. Halo's edges look sharper for sure, but the lack of fine detail is noticeably missing.
The difficulty also seems off. I tried playing Halo 2 on Legendary and it was impossible and just not fun in the slightest. Dealing with waves of Elites with infinite shields and you with guns incapable of hurting them and limited ammo. I eventually gave up and put Titanfall back in the machine.

Then there is the two hour install, hours of update patches and massive ammount of harddrive space it requires which is still increasing with each new patch. You have to buy the disc as downloading this size game off the net will get yoru account limited from your broadband provider. I don't care what package you have - they wont be happy when you download over 45gig in one go. They will limit your account slowing down your internet activity from that day onwards.

This should have been the benchmark for all games to be compared to. Alas its nothing but another example of rushing a release too soon without beta testing and hurting a community to breaking point. It will also be the last time EVER that I pre-order a game.

Failed to connect to my PC, failed to charge in the car via the cigarette adapter. The computer could see that something was connected to the USB so I think it worked. It just couldnt connect to it. My car is 2011 and my PC is 2012 so its disapointing. I had to send it back.
