Gaggia Classic RI8161 Coffee Machine with Professional Filter Holder - Stainless Steel Body
Gaggia Classic RI8161 Coffee Machine with Professional Filter Holder - Stainless Steel Body

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Coffee Machine, 7 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I did quite a bit of research on coffee machines before going for this one. Very glad I purchased this one.

Solid design, nearly all of the machine is stainless steel. Its well built, has good pressure, easy to clean and feel's well built.

Takes a few minutes to warm up in the morning, but gets going pretty quickly. Produces a very good coffee, with nice cremè on top. Milk frothing wand also does a good job. Very easy to make a good flat white or latte.

One tip, there is a small plastic valve in the cup section between the metal plates. I nearly lost this on a couple of occasions so just keep an eye when emptying the old coffee out.

One tiny criticism, it would have been nice if the milk frothing section was made out of more durable plastic or metal (I know this is probably a bad idea due to scalding you might get) but it has melted a touch from the hot steam.

Finally, depending on the water in your area you may need to clean the machine every so often. The water isn't ideal in my area so I do this every 4/6 weeks to ensure water flows well through the machine. Recommend this cleaner if you need to buy one De'Longhi Natural Descaler for Bean to Cup Machines, 2 x 100 ml

Thermos Thermocafe 2060 Steel Travel Mug, 0.4 Litre

Pretty reasonable thermos. Does the job and lid fits pretty securely.

Only issue is that the airhole on the top is in the same position your nose would be when you are nearing the bottom of the flask. Given this the liquid doesn't pour quite as well. Pretty poor design flaw really hence 3 stars, but I've managed to live with it.

good quality milk jug, has a good sized capacity. Reason for 4 and not 5 stars is that the spout is too wide to do any latte art, think with a tighter spout this would be a touch better. Still if you're making 2-3 latte's its a good jug

Not much to say apart from its solid, made from a single piece of metal you'd imagine it would be. Sure this will last for hundreds of years.

Raleigh LED Front & Rear Bike Lights
Raleigh LED Front & Rear Bike Lights
Price: £13.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Lights, 7 Sept. 2013

Bright, easy to attached and detach, multiple options for how the LED's flash, I think 5 on the rear light, 3 on the front.

Seems like the batteries should last a long time too.

Don't Make Me Think!: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability
Don't Make Me Think!: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability
by Steve Krug
Edition: Paperback
Price: £21.34

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute must have if you are interested in web design / UX, 7 Sept. 2013

Brilliant book, can't recommend it enough. Even tho some examples are a little dated the theory is just as applicable now as it ever was so don't let that put you off.

I'd recommend anyone who's into web related industries to read this. It definitely helped change the way I think about web design and ensuring simplicity in the design process.

Nice easy read to and well written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong headphones, 7 Sept. 2013

I've purchased both these and the in ear 350's RHA do. Have to say i'm impressed by both, sound quality is excellent especially at this price. Also their customer service is very good, I had to chat to them a while back and they were very helpful and quick to respond.

The cable is very well built, not worried about any issues with it fraying/breaking given its wrapped with a special cotton style material.

Overall balance is strong, its pretty flat throughout the frequency range. I'd say the 350's have a slightly better top end response, but these provide more bass which is obviously lacking from in ears. For £50 I'd say a pretty good deal, plus its a UK business so good to help UK Audio companies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bit of kit, 7 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is awesome bit of kit, and so cheap. I'd recommend to anyone. I've tried learning Python but there are loads of image files you can load onto an SD and usually works straight away so very easy if you're not that technical.

I've currently got mine setup as an XMBC media server (Raspmc). Was super simple to setup and I can now stream movies and audio from my Mac (audio appears as an output in system preferences). Also easy to stream from iphone / ipad to the TV via Airplay.

There are loads of other applications you can download and boot, maybe an old skool games console, or weather station.

Only thing I should note, this doesn't come with a power adaptor, I picked one up on ebay for about £3. Its just the Raspberry PI so you'll need to buy case, keyboard, SD card, charger.

Definitely recommend this tho!

3.0 out of 5 stars Rucksack, 7 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Purchased a month or so ago so had time to get used to the bag.

Positives:

- Carry's laptop with ease / well padded so not worried about any damage
- Lots of pockets, both in and outside which are very useful. Also comes with a power adaptor pouch which is very useful.
- Colours / Design good

Negative

- Its quite thin, and pretty wide. I expected it to be much thinner so if you're of a slight build it won't be that comfortable. I definitely notice straps chaffing when carrying on both shoulders. Even tho the capacity is quite high, it doesn't actually fit too much in.
- I load my bag with a fair amount of weight, but only after a month the straps are starting to tear a little at the top.
- Straps aren't very comfortable.

I'd probably give it 3.5* out of 5. If you're fairly big and want a bag mainly for a laptop / notepad / one or two other things then this is good. Not the kinda bag you'd use for just a rucksack on holiday tho given the limited capacity.
