VonHaus Bracket with Desk Clamp for iPad Tablet Computer Android Nexus Kindle
VonHaus Bracket with Desk Clamp for iPad Tablet Computer Android Nexus Kindle

5.0 out of 5 stars Very strong sturdy tablet clamp, 29 Aug 2014
Very strong sturdy tablet clamp, with flexibility to move around and hold various sizes of tablet. Very impressed. It's held up perfectly as a bedside clamp for a period when I was bedridden after surgery. The only slight downside is the clamp part is quite large, so needs significant clearance behind it - though that does allow it to grip some quite chunky objects.

Clearly fragile, as the clamp part broke in two during shipping. Sent back. Nothing heard from since. Avoid.

4.0 out of 5 stars Keyboard: Good. USB Receiver: Bad., 29 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The bluetooth keyboard is pretty much as youd expect. The size makes it a little fiddly to use, but it works perfectly well. It's clearly not really touch-type size, but is ideal for my android tablet. Mouse pad works fine, and the range is very good actually. A few metres easily.

Sadly the accompanying bluetooth USB receiver isn't so good. It died within a couple of days. Fair enough that it's a cheap and cheerful thing to replace (You can get them for well under a pound), but on the whole the keyboard is a little let down in this one aspect - if you're depending on the receiver, say to work a pc or laptop at a distance; don't. If you want the keyboard for something that already has bluetooth capability within it, you'll be just fine!

The light is a nice touch. A laser pointer might be nicer; but for those times when using the computer or tablet to watch movies, the light isn't an awful idea at all. Four stars because it was let down by the receiver.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, 21 Jun 2014

Seems to work just fine. It's not a subtle device. You plug it in, fan is on. Pull it out to turn off. No switch or frills like that.

But it's cheap, works great. Is a little on the noisy side - don't expect it to be silent. Does move a decent amount of air, however.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little tool., 21 Jun 2014
Does what it says on the box and works perfectly. USB 3.0 interface can power up a drive just fine, though you'll need both plugs for a USB 2.0 interface. It can be quite a power hog running a drive over USB.

Does NOT work with 3.5" drives - it just doesn't have enough juice. I couldn't resist trying, though.

So, that aside, works great, fast connect speed, and makes a handy addition to a go toolkit or for backup to a small drive or some such. Perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Has some limitations, but is amazing for the price, 21 Jun 2014
It's easy to knock a tablet like this. There are certainly limitations on it - and the manufacturer (Polatab) has cut things to the bone in favour of price over more or less everything else. However, they haven't really compromised much that you can't live without. I was a teensy bit leery of buying this, but since it was cheap, and tended to have good reviews, I decided to risk it. In short: I have absolutely no regrets about buying this!

Upsides - Lightweight, large screen, decent CPU performance.
Downsides: No GPS capability, no current option I could find to root it, Poor viewing angle. Slightly Limited RAM and storage.

The Allwinner A31s chipset is relatively low end for the market compared to an up to date snapdragon. This isn't the latest, greatest piece of hardware. However, the performance is surprisingly much higher than my expectations. Despite the CPU being a little on the lightweight side - it's a quad core, and it seems to make up in multicore what each core itself may lack in punch. With the acceleration inherent, it's theoretically capable of 4K output on the included HDMI port. I haven't tested this, but video with the included 4K app looks just great on the 1200x600 screen. (Which is, I agree, a slightly odd resolution!).

The screen is fine, apart from perhaps some limited viewing angle issues. Yes a tablet 3 or 4 times the cost has a much nicer screen display, and better viewing angles, but the compromise isn't awful. This is definitely the tablet for the kids, or for a riskier environment where you're cutting potential losses in case of disaster.

There's just over 800 MB of internal storage, which is very tight indeed, though there's an internal usb storage that has about 12GB of free space. Sadly android is poor at putting apps into the secondary storage - and Google's own apps won't play nicely here. 3rd party apps can be split about 50/50 between internal and external storage. This makes them take more space overall, but less on the very precious limited internal store. Do go into your storage options and move what you can. Your storage won't go far at all if you don't manage this.

Some apps, like Chrome and Maps take up a lot of space, and won't move. You may be better avoiding. This is more Google's fault than the tablet's however! With no GPS, maps has limited use anyway.

If you could root the tablet, you'd have some more clever options for saving space - and even swapping to an SD card or some such to increase apparent RAM. The Allwinner A31s chipset has been rather passed over in this regard compared to some of the bigger brand phones and tablets, however. I still don't have a root option; which is a shame - apps to move google services onto secondary storage or create swap space to stretch your precious RAM exist, but all require root privileges.

Connectivity is fine. Although the chipset doesn't inherently include bluetooth or GPS, bluetooth was added by Polatab, and bluetooth keyboard and mouse combos work just fine.

Something of a surprise, the charging connector is somewhat non standard, as it's a small circular port, separate from the USB port. This does mean you can use external usb devices at the same time as charging the tablet, which is a plus, but also means you are somewhat limited in the charging options, and must use the included charger - not any old USB cable. [EDIT: Apologies; I was wrong. You can ALSO charge from USB.]

The tablet comes with a micro HDMI port (untested for me); so appears well equipped in terms of communicating with its environment.

All in all, this tablet punches WELL above its price class. It's excellent value for money, and if the limitations it has are not deal breakers, you're not going to find better. At the price (which dropped from £80 to £75 the weekend I wrote this [Edit and now down to £69 wow] ), it's an absolute steal.

2.0 out of 5 stars Windows 8 driver?, 11 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
There's a windows 7 driver available from the manufacturer website, or on the disk at the m-ware.de site; but it doesn't seem to have a working windows 8 driver in there. You're probably fine if using windows 7; but not if using anything newer.

The USB port does seem to work, however.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tough Case, poor belt clip, 15 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The case is clearly a very tough design, and has protected my phone from some not insignificant falls. However, almost all the dropped phone incidents since installing it in the case were caused by the belt clip failing in some way, shape or form. The clip not only has a tendency to lock open and fall off the belt, but is very bulky and can be uncomfortable as well. Eventually, the clip part of the belt broke off, now 4 months into owning it.

Don't get me wrong - the /case/ is the toughest one I've seen, and I fully recommend it; even if it makes the phone a quite a lot more unwieldy (and a note 2 is pretty bulky as is!) - the phone more or less doubles in effective thickness, for example. It's perfectly functional in the case, of course - but it's a little less pocketable inside it! Don't buy it for the belt clip, however!

3.0 out of 5 stars Small, but cheap!, 25 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The description "Unisex" implies they will fit a wide range of hands. Only people with small hands should apply. They only stretch so far - and anyone with medium to large hands should be wary.

If they fit, at this price they are awesome however. They work perfectly with the touch screen, however. Not hugely warm (again, stretched over even a medium size paw, makes for gaps in the weave which lets heat out).

On the whole fine, arrived in reasonable time and work very well. Just that one warning!
