I really loved this book. It is about a girl called Megan who has to decide whether or not to keep the baby that she has just had. You need to read Megan 1 before reading this.

I read this book a few years ago and I thought that it was really good. It has a short biography on quite a few female missionaries. It was v. good and v. inspiring.

The Skin I'm In
The Skin I'm In
by Sharon Flake
Edition: Paperback
Price: £7.99

4.0 out of 5 stars The Skin I'm In, 16 July 2006
This review is from: The Skin I'm In (Paperback)
This was a good book. It was tactfully and well written in a style that made you have your own opinions on Maleeka, her Mum, her life, her friends and left you asking a lot of questions. This book doesn't show justice: it shows injustice. It is about a black girl called Maleeka who is picked on at school because of the colour of her dark skin and her home-made clothes. Maleeka runs into trouble when the people she thought were her friends suddenly change and want her to start doing stuff that she is not sure she is prepared to do. Can she find her way out of it?

The Mum Hunt
The Mum Hunt
by Gwyneth Rees
Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars The Mum Hunt, 16 July 2006
This review is from: The Mum Hunt (Paperback)
The Mum Hunt is a good book although it took a while to get started, was boring in places and throughout the book I was wondering what had actually happened to Esmie's Mum. I knew that she had died, although I wasn't actually sure how. The story had twists and turns in all the right places. It was a good book, but perhaps Esmie's age attracted the wrong age group.

In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer
In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer
by Irene Gut Opdyke
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good book about a girl during the war, 16 July 2006
Irene is a girl during WW2 who lives in Poland and gets a job in a big Nazi household so that she can first of all give Jews food through the fence in the next-door concentration camp and later on in the book, start hiding them in the house and by the end, start smuggling them into the forest in a cart. Amazing book, and best of all: it really happened!

4.0 out of 5 stars Zlata's Diary, 15 July 2006
For a girl who has had her childhood disturbed by war, Zlata is a surprisingly normal teenager! I enjoyed reading her diary, although it did get a little bit boring in places. It is about a girl called Zlata. It is her diary that she wrote during a war in her country. She is a natural writer, even from a young age.

Smiling For Strangers (Dolphin Paperbacks)
Smiling For Strangers (Dolphin Paperbacks)
by Ann Campling
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Smiling For Strangers, 15 July 2006
This book was v.good, even though the cover is a bit freaky! I liked it and it was well written. It is about a girl called Nina who leaves her war-torn country to go to England to find a man her dead Mother once knew. But was her Mother's relationship with this man all that it seems? Will Nina get to England successfully?

5.0 out of 5 stars The Rattletrap Trip, 13 July 2006
This review is from: The Rattletrap Trip (Paperback)
This book was extremely good. It is about a called Julia (Jewells) who lives with her foster Mum (Sarsaparilla) and all of her fostered sisters and brother. Sarsaparilla decides to go and live in the rural countryside instead of their normal house. They are pulled out of school and their lives are turned around. Will this way of life work for them or not? You'll have to read and find out.
