Not sure what I can add to the glowing reviews of Abbey Road, other than another endorsement of a great album by a great band. For me this is almost, but not quite, as good as the White Album, with its virtuoso and sincere performances, intricate and creative songwriting, and spacious and innovative production.

Tasty and simple food. Can't go wrong with these straightforward recipes. The curry recipe and the cottage pie are fantastic, we've also done the roast beef which was lovely. Looking forward to trying out more of these recipes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive high quality car seat, 20 Nov. 2009

This was priced very reasonably at Amazon. It is very simple and secure in fitting to the car. I have fitted this to the centre of the back seat of my Astra, making it easy to access from either side and also meaning my 10 month old daughter can see out of the windscreen - lovely.

It's well made and finished, and feels like it should last a few years. Cannot fault this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bosch Rotak, 26 April 2009

I have wasted plenty of money on hopeless Flymo hover mowers, and when my last one broke down I resolved to buy something better. The Bosch is only slightly more expensive than the Flymo rubbish, but it is in a different league in quality terms. It is slightly fiddly to self-assemble, the grass box being particularly tricky, but once assembled it feels well-made and when working it feels and sounds like a quality item.

The grass-cutting is much better than the Flymo too, and the grass collection works superbly - no more borders covered with grass offcuts blown from the bottom of the mower.

A very good buy so far. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Family Cycling, 26 April 2009

It's a helpful book for me, as I'm considering taking my new daughter out cycling with me and there is much useful information about seats, trailers, suitable distances to ride, what to carry etc. The book doesn't get full marks because quite a lot of the chapters are too general and apply whether cycling en famille or solo, such as riding in traffic, and maintenance of the bike. These chapters feel like they are just padding out the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seagate external hard disk, 30 Mar. 2009

Nice and solid construction, easy to set up and use. Decent software enables a regular back up of files from your PC. Only one flaw which is that I have to keep the USB cable unplugged except when it is time to do the backup as the computer will not boot with the external disk connected (running Windows XP).

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book that evokes the taste of Chengdu, 27 Feb. 2007
This review is from: Sichuan Cookery (Paperback)
I visited Chengdu last year on a work trip, and absolutely loved the food. It's nothing like the Hong Kong style Chinese food that dominates in the UK. It's spicy, and has a wonderful array of subtle flavours.

After the trip I was thrilled to find this book by Fuchsia Dunlop, and discover that the recipes are mostly easy to follow, and use ingredients that are not too difficult to get hold of. Above all, though, the results are fabulous, and every Sichuan meal I have made so far has reminded me of the exciting and tasty food experience I had in Chengdu.

Ms Dunlop writes with dizzying enthusiasm, and the book is a great read in its own right.

An unreserved five star book. Adventurous cooks must try it. Food enthusiasts will enjoy the mouthwatering descriptions.

5.0 out of 5 stars I hear that sound, that clickety-clack., 24 Nov. 2003
This review is from: Pistolero (Audio CD)
Four fantastic musicians, recording live in the studio. No pretensions, just straightforward honest rock and roll.
But this is from Frank Black, so it ROCKS so hard it's unbelievable. When I Switched You plays, the energy just blasts from the speakers. I cannot listen to this without a grin forming from ear to ear. For sheer rocking lunacy, this is up there with Planet Of Sound.
The songwriting is inspired, with epics such as So Hard To Make Things Out, a glorious three-parter that surprises with every listen, and So Bay which is ultra-atmospheric.
The rest of the songs are pretty darn good. Frank makes a much better job of writing a ballad with You're Such A Wire, than he achieved on previous albums such as Cult of Ray. Western Star is beautifully written and performed. There are many great singalong tracks too, demonstrating Frank Black's ability to combine great melodies with raw energy (not to mention the usual incomprehensible lyrics).
In summary, one of Frank Black's best rock albums, and that is some compliment.
