3.0 out of 5 stars GREAT STORY, 16 Nov. 2007
This was a good film and has an interesting twist at the end. We find Nicole and the kids in a large country house. Nicole's husband is away, fighting the Hun, leaving Nicole to look after the house, staff and her two children.

The family are beset by haunting as a strange child roams the hallways and landings. The film is quite creepy in places and has a great atmosphere at times.

The twist lies as we discover it is Nicole and the kids/staff who are actually the ghosts, trapped in time and the apparitions are actually the living, modern occupants of the house.

4.0 out of 5 stars CHRISTMAS WOULDN'T BE THE SAME, 16 Nov. 2007
It's a feel good western. A band of gunfighting, whiskey swigging mercenaries are recruited to protect a small village from rampaging Mexican bandits.

Great cast and well acted throughout, we see the 'Seven' fight valiantly to see off heavily moustached Mexicans en masse. Great film for all the family (except Mexican's with moustaches and bandoliers of bullets crossing their chests).

5.0 out of 5 stars CORKER, 16 Nov. 2007
This review is from: The Sentinel [DVD] [2006] (DVD)
Michael Douglas plays a secret service agent, based in the Whitehouse and part of the presidential protection team.

We soon discover he is having an affair with the First Lady, who in fairness is living a separate life behind closed doors from the President. A mysterious party has discovered their affair and starts blackmailing Douglas, who becomes framed for leaking secrets about the President's movements, thus setting him up for an assassination attempt.

Keifer Sutherland, an ex friend of Douglas is tasked with tracking him down, whilst Douglas tries to clear himself of the charges. The action is fast paced and gritty.

4.0 out of 5 stars CREEPY FOR IT'S DAY, 16 Nov. 2007
This was a pretty creepy film and as an impressionable teenager,. i started going to bed with onions (didn't have garlic) strung round my neck.

It's a predictable 'vampires move to small town' storyline but was a darn good watch at the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT FUN, 14 Nov. 2007
This review is from: Innerspace [DVD] [1987] (DVD)
What a great film.

Miniaturise a submarine and inject it into a human body, complete with Dennis Quaid at the wheel.

Clever storyline and clever effects as we travel through veins, major organs and eventually out an ear hole.

Great fun for kids and adults alike.

4.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC, 14 Nov. 2007
I'm old enough to have enjoyed the original series, which at the time had great special effects and a cosy feel about the storylines.

This new film and follow on series have moved the whole story into a new level of effects and more gritty stories.

The days of watching the same effect from twenty six different angles have gone, the characters are more serious and businesslike.

Very highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars SCARY BEAR, 10 Nov. 2007

Gripper !!

Three men stranded in the mountains, miles from civilization, no food and hopelessly lost. To cap it all, Hopkins thinks Baldwin is having an affair with his wife and would like to bump him off at the first opportunity to get the rich widow she would become. One of their party is injured during their air crash and is quickly dispatched by a grizzly bear, who continues to track the two survivors. Easier to catch than salmon, the two men must work together to survive the environment AND the hungry bear.

Good action scenes and well acted (especially the bear, who was nominated for three Oscars), with a good twist at the end.

3.0 out of 5 stars ESCAPISM, 10 Nov. 2007

You can't help loving them. Four nutters who served in Vietnam and now offer to sort out baddies for a living.

Who can forget those busy scenes, surrounded by heavily armed baddies in a farm barn with nothing but a bag of nuts, a tractor, egg whisk and an old Dyson hoover, quickly converted into an armoured tank with machine guns, flamethrower and easy empty bag. The great thing was the way the bad guys were happy to wait while the team welded things together and designed everything. I have never seen so many bombs and bullets fired without a single fatality, on either side !!

Great stuff for granny and the kids aswell.

3.0 out of 5 stars SWAP A SHIP FOR A TRAIN, 10 Nov. 2007
The Chef returns in this rather average sequel.

Steven Seagal is now on a train with his neice, which is promptly hijacked and used by terrorists as a moving computer platform to fire lasers from space. Why they didn't just rent a flat is unclear.

The action is pretty good in fairness, as Chefman takes control of the train and saves the passengers, plus his neice from a randy porter.

Worth a watch on a wet, cold evening. Having saved a ship and now a train, don't board a plane with Seagal, or offer him a lift in your car !!

4.0 out of 5 stars MINDLESS ACTION, 10 Nov. 2007
This review is from: Under Siege [DVD] [1992] (DVD)
Steven Seagal is a Special Forces, Ninja, Commando, Chef, yes Chef. Cooking aboard the soon to be decommissioned battleship Missouri, a group of highly trained and well dressed terrorists overcome the skeleton crew and proceed to unload cruise missiles from the ships magazine.

BUT, they missed chefman who proceeds to kill everybody in a white dinner suit, save the crew and missiles and cook them all a fine meal.

It's predictable stuff, but good action scenes in places and a few one-liners from chef. I believe a remake is scheduled, starring Gordon Ramsey.
