4.0 out of 5 stars OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN WITH WINGS, 10 Nov. 2007
This review is from: Top Gun [DVD] [1986] (DVD)
Any bloke who has watched this film has stood in front of the mirror, with a pair of black shades, and pretended they are Maverick from Top Gun.

Some great air action shots and good cast make this a good old fashioned 'fist pumping, back slapping' kind of film.

I now have to try and develop a six pack, play beach volleyball and fly an F14 Tomcat in the us nAVY.

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT RETURN TO FORM, 10 Nov. 2007
Great film. I thought the idea of a fourth film may be pushing the John Mclean character a bit too far. I was wrong.

Very clever story as we see Mclean first save and then protect a young computer hacker who holds a vital key to thwart computerised mayhem in the USA. An ex government computer genius is causing havoc, as his team interupt utilities, traffic control and telephone/satellite communication and ultimately, the stock exchange and financial marketplace.

Plenty of action and high tec intrigue to keep your attention. Great special effects.

Well done Bruce and the gang.

5.0 out of 5 stars WHAT A CHARACTER, 3 Nov. 2007
Could this be the rudest GP in Britain?

Martin Clunes plays Doc Martin and his no nonsense style of Doctoring is hilarious. His skills on the romantic side leave a lot to be desired too.

Great location, great cast and a really funny series from start to finish.

3.0 out of 5 stars DIDN'T LIVE UP TO IT'S FILM COUSIN, 31 Oct. 2007
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
After the adrenaline action of the film, this game was a bit of a letdown.

The action is basic and the graphics fuzzy with distant objects, whereby you may attack a bush or a boulder by mistake. It wasn't all bad but there are better games to be played.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD, ACTION GAME, 31 Oct. 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Quite graphic in places. Bullets will send arms and heads flying in all directions as you blaze away with M16 and grande launchers.

Whilst not fast paced stuff, the action scenes and story are good.

3.0 out of 5 stars 'BLACK'S' POORER COUSIN, 31 Oct. 2007
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Kill.Switch (PS2) (Video Game)
Quite a good game, with smooth gameplay and challenging levels.

Our hero uses cover/stealth throughout, but the bullets fly thick and fast.

Having played BLACK, i now find this game very poor in comparison.

4.0 out of 5 stars MEDAL OF HONOUR WITH GHOULIES, 31 Oct. 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Really like this game. Usual hero fights the Germans during WW2 and set in the desert of North Africa, returning to Castle Wolfenstein, which i presume is in Germany.

The Germans are trying to create monster soldiers to win the war for them and you find yourself fighting a myriad of ghouls, skeletons, suits of armour and bowls of ferocious fruit (just kidding). The action is constant and the story/levels keep the interest well.

Well worth buying/playing.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC SHOOTER, 31 Oct. 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Black (PS2) (Video Game)
Can't praise highly enough. I have to agree with some of the other reviews in so far as you cannot save the level in mid play. Some levels are long and progressively more challenging. To get twenty minutes into a level and then die, you are required to start right back at the beginning of the level, which can be frustrating.

BUT THE PLUSSES FAR OUTWEIGH THE NEGATIVES. The gameplay is brilliant. Hiding behind things does not guarantee safety. Grenades, RPG's and heavy amounts of machine gun fire will whittle away concrete, trees etc and dont even think of hiding behind boxes or cars. The supply of guns and ammo are plentiful, as you collect dead bad guys equipment en route.

Very difficult in places but this adds to the enjoyment, who wants a game finished in 24 hours and thrown in the back of a drawer?

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

4.0 out of 5 stars I NEED THERAPY, 29 Oct. 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Great game and very time consuming. Good expansion to Rome disc but gameplay much the same.

We have a new group of nationalities to choose from, with the usual assortment of cavalry, archers, axe weilding nutters etc.

Good attachment to Rome if you enjoyed it, as i did.

2.0 out of 5 stars REPETITIVE, 29 Oct. 2007
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
The game starts well but oh boy, does it become a bore after a while.

The board game was okay and i had high hopes for this game. You really need to attack it in short periods to keep your interest alive.
