4.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic DVD, 7 Mar 2012
A very good introduction to this layout. Sadly no longer on the exhibition circuit. Lots of movement - Photography far to high above the model. Eye level - like Right track to Stoke Summit would have been far better.

Would have been far better with more detail on the trains.

As a fan of the Voyager series. This book ticks alot of the boxes. The author has captured the main characters very well. I don't get the B' Torres and holographic revolt subplots. Hopefully these will integrate with the rest of the story in book 2.

4.0 out of 5 stars 1960's ECML delight, 4 Jan 2011
Had this as a gift for Christmas. Lovely photo's well up to Keith Pirt's standard.

Only issue I had was were the only engines in existance A1's, A2's, A3's and A4's. Very heavy on pacific photos' would have been nice to see some of the others. B1's B16's V2's, L1's etc...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great publication, 1 Nov 2010
Great book. Just a few comments:

IT's called change over I was expecting a split 50/50 end of steam start of diesels. But predominatley steam and heavy on the ER pacific power. Which I like but not quiet what I thought it to be.

colour photos are excellent and the captions informative.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible film Sandra Bullocks worst, 23 Aug 2010
This review is from: The Proposal [DVD] (DVD)
I'm so glad I only rented this. If I'd bought it, it would have gone in the bin. No Chemistry between the cast.

Disappointing crude and a waste of time. Surprised by the positive comments on this item!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is not a toy!, 6 Aug 2010
= Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
The title I've given this product says very much about this. Hornby have long been known as a toy train maker. However, since the turn of the century the range has moved from toys o precision replicas of loco's and rolling stock.

The range is now divided in two : Hornby and Hornby Railroad. The later at the "toy" end of the market - more durable and less likely to have bits fall off.

I've this R2721 and many other A4's on a large model railway. It is exceptional model. Very highly detailed and beautiful runners.

Very good book with very nice photos. Let down by a lack of structure to the photo's and the accompanying narrative.

3.0 out of 5 stars I liked it but, 4 May 2010
I had this given to me as a belated christmas gift. Yes I throughly enjoyed this book. If you like photo's of A1's, A2's, A3's and A4's etc it's great and Tony's work is excellent. The photo's are superb and the text informative.

When advertised as a way to save money - its left me feeling a little disappointed. I excepted more descriptions of how to build, along with pit falls and short cuts.

It's not a stepping stone to quickly get on and build engines, more an inspiration of what can be achieved with the products RTR and kits currently available.

A throughily enjoyable yarn. Spoilt in one or two instances plot holes you could drive a bus through- but that's Star trek anyway
