3.0 out of 5 stars Not a patch on the first novel, 6 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I had great hopes for this book after reading the first novel in this trilogy but it tripped along at the speed of light throwing in a few mention's of character's from the previous book but hardly a continuation. There are for too many references to Charles and Caroline's sexual activity to the point that if he cupped her breast once more I was going to scream it just got boring, it did not have the passion of the first book and smacked of a second novel hastily put out by the publisher to keep the public buying I was going to buy the third novel but am now put off and I am going back to Mary Wesley for my taste of Cornwall a real shame as the first book was so good

5.0 out of 5 stars A excellent read, 30 Mar. 2015

I really enjoyed this novel it had a believable plot albeit I know little of the world of high class prostitution and can only assume that all things being equal you get what you pay for' I loved the fact that Mary once again cocks a snoop at the class system and Hebe has the good sense to do the same it would seem that Mary Wesley views men as mainly weak driven by sex and this novel proves that delightfully most highly recommended up there with the camomile lawn

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed but slightly unbelievable, 30 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The third Mary Wesley novel I have read I found this story slightly unbelievable who would invite someone into their home knowing nothing about them' also having had sex with two men (boys) in one session the central character then gives birth to twins who look each like one of their fathers incredible However I did enjoy this book and viewed it more as a romantic period drama of which it reminded me maybe things were different during world war 2 I was not there to say but all in all a very good little tale

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a read, 30 Mar. 2015

This review is from: The Camomile Lawn (Kindle Edition)
Having seen the camomile lawn on TV first my expectations were high it just goes to show you can never compare the two, I wish I had read the book first as the sexual encounters are more hinted at than see as in the TV adaptation all together a follow able plot with enriched characters thet are believable very middle class and Mary Wesley cocks a snoop at that I have now gone on to read several of her other novels and thick I am becoming a fan

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it, 30 Mar. 2015

l loved this book purely because it was nostalgic for the 70's I have rarely seen Jason Manford but believe he is a good comic I read it after reading Alan Carr's autobiography it didn't compare as Alan's upbringing was more middle class but Jason's book was equally funny I think his parents were hysterical it has it all from his first paper round to his first sexual encounter well worth a read
