Not really what we were after as the placemats are very thin and in our opinion not very classy looking.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a gripping read could not put this book Down until I knew how it ended, 22 Feb 2014

This review is from: The Missing One (Kindle Edition)
A really absorbing read. The characters are nicely developed and the plot moves along rapidly. Kal turns from a lost sheep to a real feisty heroine. switching from past to present leaves you equally gripped by both tales and a fabulous ending. A thoroughly enjoyable read but be prepared to not want to put this book down!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really difficult, 13 Feb 2014

As someone who loves difficult and challenging brain teasers this is a great book of killer sudokus. They make the hard killer sudoku in the times seem like child's play! Also there is no section of easy/easier sudokos so every page is full on. Excellent purchase.

its a basic middle of the road comfortable rock album. no stand out tracks or wow moments. Boring really and unlikely to feature very often on the ipod (if ever) again - life is too short.

2.0 out of 5 stars not very mega, 26 Jun 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having bought a couple of Megadeth albums when released and at the time thinking these aren't half bad I was tempted by other reviews to 'relive' my youth and by Countdown to Extinction. Unfortunately my tastes have obviously changed as the band which I remember as cutting edge hard rock are now pedestrian and the singer now sounds whiney. Talk about having your memories crushed...! My advice to ageing rockers is JUST DON'T!

4.0 out of 5 stars nice one, 26 Jun 2012

I'd never heard anything by the band but following reading an article in a music mag and reviews on Amazon I decided to purchase this double album. GREAT MOVE - good old fashioned chug-along- rock and blues. Loving it

As a jigsaw fanatic and a Simpson afficionado this was a win-win birthday present. However to say it was difficult is an understatement! put aside some long days and evenings to complete this masterpiece and enjoy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Yawno, 23 Sep 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is my first introduction to Mogwai and having heard of them in Ian Rankin books I was looking forward to hearing their music. I have to say it is a bit intense, in a good way, however after a few tracks I was ready for a change. Nothing wrong with it just a bit boring after a bit.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book, 9 Jun 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
great book - only problem is it is number one of a trilogy and there seems to be a problem with number two getting published, never mind number three. Latest estimate is for a 2011 appearance by which time I will probably have forgotten the characters, plot and intrigue. Blast!

The Lost Symbol (Robert Langdon)
The Lost Symbol (Robert Langdon)
by Dan Brown
Edition: Hardcover

3.0 out of 5 stars Too clever by half, 17 Oct 2009

Another Dan Brown novel another venture into architectural spiritualism. In its first week of release it went straight to number one in the book charts with sales of over 500,000 - number two sold 12,000! Incredible...but ultimately I found the book a bit flat.

This time there is an over emphasis on masonic symbolism rather than plot and action, which when added to a 'beyond belief' climax, has left this reader feeling a little short changed, with the excited anticipation of receiving his first novel since the mind-blowingly excellent Da Vinci Code sadly unfulfilled. On reflection the book needed stronger editing with the vast number of worthy historical anecdotes and asides actually becoming mind numbingly yawn inducing after a while. It reads like a first novel which meanders along and which would get a 'good attempt' comment, unfortunately for someone of DB's pedigree and track record this is not good enough. :)
