2.0 out of 5 stars Clearly Not Universal, 27 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Doesn't fit my Isuzu Bighorn - just will not latch in the buckle, making it useless to me. Seems well enough built, I imagine I'd be happy with it if it worked.

The Science Fiction MEGAPACK ®: 25 Classic Science Fiction Stories
The Science Fiction MEGAPACK ®: 25 Classic Science Fiction Stories

4.0 out of 5 stars Just wanted to rate the book, 10 Nov. 2012
I was happy just giving a star rating. As such I will not write an exhaustive review. I enjoyed most of the stories; one was just annoying and another frankly disjointed and inpenetrable. The rest were enjoysble reads and worth the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap Trash Resembling a Chair, 19 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Ordered the chair on-sale from Amazon for about £30 (a very heavy discount) to replace an older chair that had broken after about 5 years service. Package was recied in a timely fashion and all parts were in the box. So far so good - but then it's all downhill from there.

1. Totally not leather. Actually made me itch some if I had exposed bare skin to the cover.
2. The screw holes under the seat are covered in the 'leather' and must be uncoverd to assemble the chair - forcing me to damage the product.
3. The gas lift control has no cover plate, so when you sit on the chair, the lever is depressed and teh chair sinks tyo the bottom.
4. The 'leather' wore away quickly by rubbing against a cabinet I had behind my office area, revaileing teh fabrick base that the 'leather' is applied to.
5. Providing rigid support to the base and back seems to be just cardboard. The arms do most of the 'support' work - another reason why the gas lift control design is inadequate.

So, poor design, cheap components, frankly a waste of £30.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Before Fallout there was Deathlands, 2 July 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book starts off a very long run of books set 100 years after the world has been devastated by an apocalyptic World War 3. I was put onto this series as a fan of Post Apocalytic fiction but also as a fan of the Fallout series of games. This book reads like a fallout book would probably be if one exsisted (for those familiar with the games). Graphic sexual scenes and graphic violence is depicted - it's a rough world out there and Mr. Axler isn't shaving off the pointy corners for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Second Expansion, 25 Aug. 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Right, so you are looking at this and wondering if this is for you - that's why you are reading customer reviews right? OK, so I'll try to explain the changes made first so that you can get a handle on if this IS for you. Firstly, certain game models have been changed: You can spin off colonies, which will be a new civ vassalized to your own. Seige weapons and air units (and interception) operate differently, with a more realistic/complex approach. Espionage is available with Writing (far earlier) and no longer costs cash but instead uses Espionage points which are generated by certain building, events, a Great Spy, and/or as part of fiscal planning as it's own slider like research or culture. There are corporations which can provide benefits (depending on which corporation) and can generate cash. There are random events both positive and negative, both minor and major. Of course there are new units, buildings, civilizations and techs as well. And then there are the scenarios, which are varied and some so different from the base game as to be almost unrecognizable. So, do expanded game mechanics, new units and civs and a variety of scenarios draw you? Then this is for you. If it's just the scenarios, some of them are available online for absolutely free as they are the best of fan creations to begin with. I for one greatly enjoy the changed mechanics and the new random events and quests.

For those not in the know (say you are buying this as a gift) it does require the base Civilization IV game but not the later Warlords expansion.

Note: there is a patch available, just go to advance options and tell it to check for an update while connected to the internet.

1.0 out of 5 stars So boring I would have to be paid to watch it again., 21 April 2007
This review is from: Solaris [2003] [DVD] (DVD)
That's the most I can say about this movie. I was bored. Very very bored. So bored that I am writing this review after seeing this movie a couple of years ago after it came out. Get the original, it's much better.

I love Flash Gordon, and this is his best serial. Unfortunately, this is a poor transfer. It flickers, its dark, the sound isn't that sharp. I really want to point you at a better transfer, as this serial deserves so much more than my paltry 3 stars, but I don't own one. As this is, this is mostly for those willing to look past the transfer to the landmark serial that is contained on these disks; more a curiosity or of academic interest than sheer entertainment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Essential, But Deeper Than You Might Expect., 23 Aug. 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
OK, Lets get it on the table right off. This is a Stuff Pack, not a game expansion like the upcomming Pets or University. Mostly Family Fun Stuff is about getting you, well, stuff. As such you get furniture, clothes and even hair for your sims to use and wear. This part is no different from any other Stuff Pack. These things are based areound three themes : the Hawaiian theme, Fantasy theme, and Nautical theme but regardless of theme many of the objects are geared towards children.

But if you haven't bought any of the expansion packs, you will also get gameplay elements that were added in the packs like Fury, Influence, and Inventory which can change your basic gameplay experience. Now if you alread have Open For Business or University or Nightlife, this doesn't add anything new to your play, as you already have these changes, but it's nice if you haven't especially considering this Pack can be had for less than £10.00. Of further interest is that this will install relevant patches to bring you up-to-date as of publication, usefull if you are on limited bandwith or you have a friend or relation who isn't too savy with this whole Intarweb thingamajigger.

So, is it for you? Well that all depends on if you have the expansions, value the changes if not; and if you want the Stuff or can make or download objects like those on offer. If you don't have the Expansions, this is a very worthwhile purchase to spice up your game on the cheap. If you do, then it comes down to the stuff and how you play. Only you can answer that.

Shattered Union (PC CD)
Shattered Union (PC CD)

3.0 out of 5 stars A Fixed Dose of Fun, 13 Aug. 2006
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
Shattered Union is set in a fractured United States of a not too distant future which has been broken into 6 parts. You control 1 faction that a region of the United States or the UN peacekeepers, and each faction has it's own special unit and can have different special abilities to draw on. You also face the Russians after you manage to unify the United States (which bizzarely also requires you to defeat the Peacekeepers if you aren't playing them) who are trying to take Alaska back.

Play is turn based, and movement happens on a hex grid which is generally not shown.

So I've had this for more than 6 months now, but haven't played it beyond the first week. Why? Because the maps are fixed and so is the starting load-out of the various factions. Once you've won as each of the factions, you've basically had all of the original material the game has to offer. So it comes down to whether you think it represents value for fun. I'd say you'd get 10-20 hours of play out of this, you can do the math.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Months and Doing Fine, 13 Aug. 2006

OK, this is a free-standing external 300GB hard drive for your computer. At 300 GB and £89.00 (free delivery too) that's roughly £0.30 per gigabyte of storage which isn't bad. You can beat that, but you need to spend more for a larger capacity drive or put together one using an old disk and an enclosure, but even then I think there is something to be said for this drive. See, I haven't exactly been nice to this drive, as my wife tripped over an over-extended power cable which sent this drive flying (what can I say, I needed an outlet and she came in unexpectedly). I thought the drive would be dead for sure - but no, it's fine. Scandisk shows no faults either, so not even any lost sectors. I've accidentally dropped this disk in transport. It's been knocked off the desk by the cat (a similar fall from the same incident broke the TFT monitor) and it's still fine. So it's durable.
Aesthetically, it should fit right in with many popular desktop format styles with the black and silver case and blue light. Connects via USB to your computer, so great for storage, but not great for software your computer needs to access repeatedly (like games) but that's not what this is for anyhow. This disk is meant to be a storage solution. You can make back-ups to it, store your files, use it for moving large ammounts of software or data (say from the old computer to the new one).
