Sometimes you enter a world where the story that is told is so horrendous that you want to stop reading it. However the story being told is so gripping that you have to keep reading to find out more, and to check justice is served. This is just such a story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I had read this sooner, 28 Nov 2013

I loved the story of Alex's journey into the world of running. A lot of which I can relate to. It's nice to get someone else's perspective on what they've been through and of course the brutally honest thoughts that go through your head when running a long race. I would say this is a great book for a newbie runner or someone thinking of running Those who have been running for a while may not necessarily need all the advice, but can probably relate to a lot of the stories or feelings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well written, gritty truths of real life, 22 Sep 2013

J K Rowling, knows how to write well, the characters are well formed and do not disappoint. It was nice to read a book where there was not perfect chocolate box family, where even the apparently good families had their secrets or imperfections. The story however wasn't exceptionally gripping, although it was a good story.

Very disapointed with this book. Took me a good few weeks to read as never really got into it. All a little predictable with rather pathetic characters.
