5.0 out of 5 stars Rather Good as ever for a BBC Natural History Blu-Ray, 2 Jan 2011
This is not Planet Earth.
It is Natural World, a different kettle of fish and 4 hours of top quality TV programming, in glorious HD.
Other reviewers comments about the Birds of Paradise programme illustrates a complete lack of understanding
of these fabulous creatures, to get a "glimpse" on film is remarkable.
The Wilds of Essex programme, with the clips of Peregrine flight is worth the price alone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed, 26 Feb 2010
This review is from: Big Cat Studio (Paperback)
Photos are good BUT
No jaguar?? I know they are a little edgy but a bit of a miss in a book entitled "Big Cat Studio",
BUT my real concern is the fact that the book includes "royal white tigers, golden tabbies etc and various other inbred freaks"
I find this completely unacceptable, in light of the claims of the book to support conservation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Missed opportunity by Me!!, 18 Feb 2010
Just moved to Oz, and Pink was in town, did not go see her, thought not my cuppa tea.
Bought this blu-ray for my Mrs at Christmas, she bought the plasma and blu-ray.
The concert is flipping great!!!! Watched it about 4 times, just buy it, it is superb.
Hope she comes back to Oz sometime soon.

Last Chance To See with Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine [Blu-ray] [2009]
Last Chance To See with Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine [Blu-ray] [2009]

5.0 out of 5 stars A very very enjoyable 6 hours!!, 26 Jan 2010
Mark Carwardine, a thoroughly amiable naturalists, teamed up with the " 2nd Greatest Living Englishman" Mr Stephen Fry (sorry but David A gets the award!), makes a great TV series and fine blu-ray experience. I do not know if it is 1080i or p, but who cares when it looks this fabulous on my 50 inch Panasonic Plasma. The footage of the helicopter flight over the mountains of New Zealand, was simply stunning.

The real pleasure was seeing Fry, a man in love with his 3 i-phones, nespresso coffee machine, macbook pro and wi-fi, become genuinely touched by experiencing the wonder that is wildlife. His "almost in tears" viewing of mountain gorillas, made my girlfriend ask if we can go next year - yes indeed, a big thank you to Mr Fry.
Get the blu-ray, buy the book and hope they repeat this fine series in twenty years time and find these marvelous creatures still holding on!

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, but not that outstanding., 12 Jan 2010
Problem is that other stuff, example "Planet Earth" by the BBC, raised the bar so high, that others while creditworthy, just do not do it for me. Overall lots of great landscapes, lots of people, but too little actual wildlife for my taste. As far as blu-ray quality, looked OK, but not markedly better than DVD, it lacked the blu-ray WOW. Sound images of china's birds including cranes, black-faced spoonbills and other waders. The giant panda footage was outstanding, as I would expect. Worth watching once, but I won't make repeated viewings.
Overall good, but not truly great.

5.0 out of 5 stars BBC does it again, 12 Jan 2010
Outstanding images and the program really captures the wonder of this magnificent land.
Not all of it is new, but nevertheless the quality of image is superb.
The "extra's" about time lapse photography at the Ganges source, the "bears" in the orchard and the heroic efforts to stop an old tigress dying from being sedated, were excellent.
Overall for fans of India and wildlife, It does not really get better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bird's Flight captured beautifully, 2 Jan 2010
A fair few fabulous pics, the peregrine dive on page 20 is amazing, but too many raptors, needs a little more variety.
