1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, 4 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought 2 of these as I wanted to accurately measure the temperature in my apartment. One of them didn't show the time as that corner of the screen didn't seem to be working, however I didn't return it as it was the temperature display that I had bought it for. The instructions were terribly written and took a while to figure out. Main issue with it is that it isn't accurate. They constantly display a room temperature of 19/20 C regardless of how warm or cold it is while another thermometer I have displays ~5C below this for the same conditions. I put one of them in the fridge and gave a reading of 7C while my fridge thermometer was giving a reading of 2C. Also, there can be a degree difference in the temperture reading they give, even though they are side by side. Waste of money

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality book - tiny text, very difficult to read, 3 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My review of this book is not based on the actual story 1984 but on the quality of this book. I bought this book as it regularly features on lists of books you must read, top 100 books ever etc. This version was terrible. Its printed by amazon and it looks like someone saved the book onto Microsoft Word and pressed print without even proofreading it to check the layout was ok. The layout is terrible, there is no index page with the list of chapters and no page numbers on any of the pages. The formatting is terrible too, Chapter 4 in Part 1 starts on the bottom of a page, as in the heading 'Chapter 4' is on its own on the bottom of the page and the first line of chapter 4 is on the next page. The worst had to be the font, it's tiny, size 6 I'm guessing. The tiny font made it so difficult to read that I would have to leave it down sometimes to take a break as my eyes were getting tired. So definitely avoid this version, but not the book in general, as is it a worthwhile read, though not an enjoyable one

3.0 out of 5 stars Bit disappointing...., 31 July 2011
This review is from: Pilates For Life [DVD] (DVD)
Bought this DVD based on the recommendations on this website. I've been doing pilates for about a year now and as our classes have taken a break for the summer, I was looking for a DVD to tide me over until our classes started again, and hopefully, one I could use between classes when they resumed. The DVD is well laid out, it has separate warm up and warm down sections, as well as having the main section of exercises split into parts of the body that the exercises target, so you can choose which ones you want to do. It also has the choice of a mini exercise program if you don't have enough time for the full workout.

The exercises themselves are a good introduction to pilates and provide a good workout. My main issue with the DVD and Darcey Bussells teaching of pilates was the breathing aspect. In my pilates class, we are always being told when to inhale and exhale in relation to the movement we are doing. Darcey does not do this, only commenting every so often to 'breath normally', and this made me a little apprehensive when following some of the exercises, especially as I do Pilates to aid in recovery from joint problems. When I bought this DVD, I also bought the Stott Pilates Be kind to your spine DVD and I found this far more informative with better instructions, not just in relation to the breathing, but to all other aspects of pilates then Darcey Bussells. Whiles its an ok DVD, I think the Stott Pilates DVDs are a better buy, especially for those doing Pilates due to joint problems/recovery.
