2.0 out of 5 stars Excellent novel spoilt by transcription errors, 13 Sep 2013
This review is from: Bellwether (Kindle Edition)
This is the first story I have read by Connie Francis and I was captivated by her witty, humorous style. Her characters came alive as they were so lightly yet fully presented. There was also a great deal of fascinating facts scattered through the story.
Unfortunately, during the Kindlisation of this book there were an irritating number of corrupted words.

1.0 out of 5 stars No sound with my Samsung Galaxy S2, 25 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
When I plugged this into my Samsung Galaxy S2 mobile phone the headset caused the call to be picked up as expected but there was no sound in the earpiece and no sound was transmitted to the caller.

Fitting the earpiece in the ear felt awkward.

3.0 out of 5 stars High quality construction but poor functionality, 19 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The keyboard is light but rigid and has an attractive looking design. It was easy to setup the bluetooth connection with a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The whole keyboard is about the same size as the Tab and nice and thin and so would be easy to carry around.

Unfortunately I found typing with this keyboard really dificult and actually preferred using the virtual keyboard on my Tab. The keyboard area is about the same as the virtual keyboard and the flat keys have a positive click. The trouble is the keys are so close it is hard to hit a key with enough pressure to activate the click while touch-typing.

With the Tab slotted in the keyboard you need to have the keyboard flat on a hard surface but as the keyboard is then flat you have to arch your wrists to poke down verticaly on those flat, cramped keys. Also, although the Tab is inclined backwards in the slot I still found the display too vertical to read comfortably.

The supplied keyboard was in the US layout even though purchased on Amazon UK.

A seperate keyboard should provide all the advantages of a full keyboard but this one doesn't.

2.0 out of 5 stars The design doesn't work for me, 20 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The attraction of this case for me was the flexibility of the support modes. It offered the prospect of adjustable angles of tilt in both landscape and portrait mode. The design does indeed attempt these operations. However, in the portrait mode I found the screen was tilted slightly in the left/right direction. This was because the bottom corner on the case's hinge side was slightly elevated above the surface and so tilted the case over onto the opposite corner.

In landscape mode the screen could be tilted back in 5 different angles by clicking the support arm into poppers on the back of the case cover. This arrangement worked well and the tablet was held firmly and level. However, a typing position with the tablet angled like a keyboard was not specifically catered for. I did find, however, that by un-popping the support and pushing it down onto the table I could attain a keyboard angle.

The case was well constructed and the materials were strong and pleasant to handle.

Despite the build quality this case does not fulfil its promise of flexibility and at just under 40.00 is not good value.

COLLECTED POEMS (UPDATED w/LINKED TOC)

4.0 out of 5 stars The Linked Table of Contents is masquerading as the 'cover', 23 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
There IS a fully linked Table of Contents in this version but it is masquerading as the 'cover'.

Select 'Got to...' from the menu and note that the option 'table of contents' is not selectable. However, if you select 'cover' from the 'Go to..' menu you will see the 'Table of Contents' instead of a cover!

The formatting of the text looks reasonable in that the line endings are correctly placed. If lines are too long to fit the reader, though, the the page can become messy but that is a limitation of any e-Reader I guess. The poems do follow on from each other and it would be better if each started on a new page. Most poem titles do start with bold text centred on the page which helps to keep poems separated.

There is a review of Blake on this page which is anomalous.

At 0.74 this has to be a good bargain even with the careless implementation of the Table of Contents.

2.0 out of 5 stars A poor Kindle presentation, 25 Feb 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This appears to be a PDF version of the book converted to the Kindle. There is no active table of contents. There are no line breaks after verses so the chapter/verse numbers appear in-line with the text which makes the text dense and difficult to read. Book headings are on a new line but follow on immediately below the last line of the previous book which adds to the difficulty of navigating to a required book.

The only way of navigating this book is use the search facility.

All the introductory text of the original bible is present and the Apocrypha book is also present.

I do not recommend this version of the King James Bible - try and find a version that has proper formatting and a linked Table of Contents.

Kidde 0122UK Dual Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite large, 15 Jan 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This alarm is just under 15cm in diameter and nearly 4cm deep. I found it quite obtrusive on the ceiling. One is getting two alarms combined in one but it is possible to find very discrete separate alarms and I would consider buying separate alarms next time.

If the kitchen door is open then burnt toast will set it off in an adjoining room.

Amazon Kindle Keyboard Leather Cover, Burgundy Red (only fits Kindle Keyboard)
Amazon Kindle Keyboard Leather Cover, Burgundy Red (only fits Kindle Keyboard)

2.0 out of 5 stars Unpleasant to handle, 10 Jan 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My criticism is a subjective one as, although, I thought the cover looked well constructed, I found it unpleasant to handle.

The keywords 'leather' and 'Burgundy Red' raised my expectations that a friendly tactile experience might be added to the Kindle like one gets from a book.

On the opening the parcel containing the cover there was an unpleasant smell of plastic. Despite the fact this is a leather cover it felt hard and slippery to the touch.

I slipped the Kindle loosely into the cover and hefted in my hand and considered the combined weight and bulk detracted too much from the portability of the Kindle which is so light and slim.

I might have overlooked these shortcomings had it not have been the price of 30.00 which I was reluctant to pay for a cover so unpleasant to handle.

I have now found a natural hemp cover elsewhere which feels great and cost 22.99. It includes a Paper and business card pouch and a Pen holder. I won't advertise another site here but do an internet search for Kindle covers before committing to this Amazon one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fails to recognise my fingerprint more often than not., 8 Feb 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Eikon reader installed fine, the software is very comprehensive and the build quality looks good. However, the reader fails to recognise my finger prints on most occasions. Sometimes I can get it to work by presenting a different finger. The reader worked well immediately after my initial registration of finger prints but then became progressively worse at recognising my prints. I think this must be because I have recently started regular manual work outdoors which changes the condition of my finger tips from day to day.

So if you do manual work I would be wary of this reader and probably any other fingerprint reader.
