1.0 out of 5 stars Amazing film, but broken Blu-ray..., 4 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I am Jack's raging bile duct.

Fight Club is one of my favourite films, so you can imagine my delight when I found it had been released in full HD on Blu-ray. However, a viewing attempt with my family turned awry as it spontaneously froze on scene 17 of 37 - before the amazing second half of the film. Despite my best efforts, I could only manage to have it continue with NO SOUND.

I suppose the one thing that this experience and the film has taught me is to "reject the basic assumptions of civilisation, especially the importance of material possessions."

4.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait!, 3 Dec. 2011
This review is from: Fresh Meat - Series 1 [DVD] (DVD)
This series, having recently ended, was brilliant. It seems nothing has been done quite like this before, the university setting feels new and exciting and the characters (especially that of Jack Whitehall) are very funny and relatively deep.
The feeling of Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, with moments of severe awkwardness that really makes a good comedy (eg. The Office) making it particularly reminiscent of Peep Show.

Seeing as this DVD hasn't been released yet I can't comment on the extras, but if they're anything like other Channel 4 DVDs I'm sure they'll be of plenty and very funny.

Although possibly not up there with comedies like Peep Show or The Inbetweeners, this really is "fresh", it's nice to see Channel 4 keep making gems like this and Friday Night Dinner. I, personally, am really looking forward to it's release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary, Epic, Electrifying, 30 Nov. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is one of the greatest TV programmes ever made, and this is definitely the best series. The incredible story arcs of each character as they come to terms with what is happening, electrifying twists and turns along the way and the suspense & mystery gradually being revealled are just some of the features of this series; which follows seemingly unconnected ordinary people around the world who discover they have extraordinary powers Being directed and with special effects like a full film, Heroes really is at it's peak with its first series.

However, I'm sure you already knew all that so I'll talk about the actual box-set. I recently bought this and watched all 25 episodes in only a few days - I couldn't stop myself because it's so addictive. Each disk has a few episodes and some bonus features, which are excellent. These include a full 71 minute pilot episode, many funny and informative commentaries with the cast and creators, special effects, stunts and more.
One of my favourite features, though, was the menu. I know it sounds a bit stupid but it's rare that you get an incredibly thought out and separately shot "trailer" on a DVD. It features Isaac Mendez' loft (A very important set in the series) and swoops around entering the paintings and going to different scenes of the series. It's just a small feature, I know, but makes the DVD all the more epic.

Best of all, however, is the price: at only £10.99 how can you possibly resist!? Seriously, for one of the most fantastically made dramas of all time it's definitely worth a buy. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious as ever, 13 Nov. 2011
With the series finale just recently I think it's fair to say this series was just as good as the first, he didn't know much about what he was doing to be honest (eg. when Ricky and Steve changed swimming with dolphins to sharks, and the cuddle party etc.) but it was equally as funny to see him say no to things such as the bungee jump, especially when he lies straight to Ricky and ends up owing £2500.
I think this is a must-buy DVD to add to the collection, whether you've seen it on TV or not - Karl Pilkington is one of the funniest men alive, he just doesn't quite know it yet. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, Smart and Comfortable, 7 Nov. 2011
I have been looking for a smart, easy to read, low priced watch (due to me always managing to break them) to wear for school and this is perfect. It looks particularly elegant due to its simple black and white design with clear markings and a well fitting strap - really ideal for someone who just needs the time now and again and no glow in the dark or stopwatches etc.
The one bad note I would mention is that in very hot weather you're going to want to keep moving it a lot - the resin strap isn't ideal and can be quite sweaty.
Overall, however, I think this is a fantastic product for anyone who's not bothered about fancy features or heavy pure gold on their wrist, but just needs the time - definitely worth a buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Legen - wait for it - dary series, 7 Nov. 2011
I have been a fan of HIMYM for ages and have all the DVD's, they were all £14.99 each even when a year or two old so I was surprised to see that a brand new release was just £13.99. This series may not have been as good for characters such as Robin and possibly Ted to an extent but the story arc with Barney and his father is funny and moving, and there is a fantastic lot of episodes with Lily and (especially) Marshall such as Bad News. Another great episode is Subway Wars, it is very reminiscent of the first 2 seasons and it appears that the makers are trying to move back to those kinds of story arcs which lend themselves perfectly to DVD.
The packaging, delivery etc. was all brilliant as usual from this seller, keep it up!
The only problem I will mention is the lateness of the release, the USA were fairly well into their seventh series when this was released on Halloween, however this is only a minor annoyance - I just hope they release the series 7 DVD in better time.
Overall, however, this is a fantastic buy, a brilliant series of a brilliant show at a brilliant price considering it's a new release. Definitely recommend you buy it now, because it's Legen - wait for it - dary!

3.0 out of 5 stars Well worth it for the low price, 7 Jun. 2011
These headphones are perfectly adequate for the low price, and appear to be some kind of "spoof" of the official apple headphones. They are made of more hard, brittle and less comfortable material than that of the actual iPod headphones, and the L & R markings rub off really easily, which is annoying (even though with these cheaper earphones it probably doesn't matter) but, to be honest, you really can't complain as the price of them really makes up for it's weaknesses and is a good short-ish term solution in headphones.
