The cover and title sounded promising so I bought a copy. Oh dear. How disappointing. Some of the photographs used I wouldn't show to anybody. The one that springs to mind is of a class 46 arriving at a station on a freight with a lamp post slap bang in the middle of the front of the loco, with the comment that 'beggars can't be choosers'! Other photographs are either too light or too dark and at times in a seemingly random order. It only got the one star because there are, for me, some local interest shots.
I've plenty of other books covering the same period so I know it can be done.
Most Oasis fans will have probably have all the audio tracks, and probably more than once with the various compilations that have been released over the years.
What makes this compilation head and shoulders above all others is the dvd of the videos. I would happily pay the purchase price for just the dvd.
I hadn't heard anything by them until ITV used the track 'Welcome to the Black Parade' during the Brazilian F1 Grand Prix. I didn't know who it was by but was instantly hooked. A few mouse clicks later and I'd found out the artist and had ordered the album.
I received it today and couldn't wait to play it. Absolutely fantastic! The only problem (!) is that I'm now going to have to buy the rest of the albums. It's such a long time since I've heard music that immediately grabs my attention.
Worth every penny. Highly recommended if you like 'proper' music.
My advice. Do what I did. Have a few drinks. Put on the dvd. Crank up the volume. A little bit more. Have another drink. Repeat. Repeat. Worth every penny. This is the first review I have written. Such is the perfection of this dvd. Turn up the volume until the speakers cry. Then enjoy. Live recordings of The Who don't get better. It might me 38 years old but quality music doesn't age. Must go. Got to follow my own advice!!!!
