5.0 out of 5 stars Why not a reformat to 16:9 ?, 8 Mar. 2016
Theres nothing new i can add to all the reviews here except for my own comments. These are;the slip case is a bit flimsy.A slip case made of stiffer cardboard would have been nicer. As they are now i have to use a rubber band to keep the contents from falling out.For such an expensive set i think we should expect more.
Most of all though i wonder why Network did,nt use the opportunity given by this bluray issue to reformat the series to 16:9.I know this is a practise open to debate but my own experience is that if the process is done with care and attention it it works very well and gives much more enjoyment.I have other 4:3 series that have been reformated to 16:9 on bluray such as the classic "World at War","Friends" "X-files" "The Wire" and "World War 2 in Colour" to mention but a few. So i`m all for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful CD !!, 8 Oct. 2010
This review is from: 1959: Pop Gold (Audio CD)
This must be one of the most enjoyable CDs i have in collection. Many of the tracks
here are for me available for the first time in stereo. It was wonderful to hear
"Old Cape Cod" by Patti Page in true stereo."The Battle Hymn of the Republic" by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir left me breathless.Five stars for the whole cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars A long overdue release by Denny Dennis,Britains best male vocalist, 25 July 2008
Denny Dennis (1913 - 1993)was without a doubt Britains finest male vocalist of the thirties and forties. His recordings are however almost impossible to find.So it was with great pleasure i discovered that Sepia records have released this CD "The Bluest Kind of Blues" which also just happens to be the title of one of his best recordings made in 1946.
Sepia have used the CEDAR audio noise reduction system and used
24 bit mastering for these 78 rpm recordings (26 tracks in all). The result is outstanding considering the age of these recordings.

I can also recommend Living Era,s release "A Tribute to Denny Dennis,
The English Trouadour" (AJA 5127)released in 1994 although you may find this one hard to find.

There is also a fascinating and excellent book written by Mike Carey
"I,ll Sing You a Thousand Love Songs,The Denny Dennis Story" publised by
Pinnacle Printing in 1992 shortly before Dennys unfortunate death. This book contains a complete discography of Dennys recordings.Again maybe hard to find but well worth the effort.

As to this Release "The Bluest Kind of Blues" from Sepia a full 5 stars.Wished i could give it more.

5.0 out of 5 stars An unexpected but more that welcome volume 11., 8 Sept. 2007
What is there to say the legendary "Golden Age of American Rock & Roll" from Ace Records that has not been said already? Not much i dont think.
Volume 1 came in 1991,Volume 2 in 1992 and so on until volume 10 in 2002.
That i assumed was end of story. But now in 2007 volume 11 arrives upon the
music scene. And what a cracker it is.
As always sound quality is nothing short of superb.Just listen to "Jim Dandy" by Lavern Baker,"Ruby Baby" (in stereo) by Dion,"Love Is Strange"
by Mickey & Sylvia,"Pretend" by Carl Mann,"This Little Girls Gone Rockin,"by Ruth Brown, not to mention "Goodbye Baby" by Jack Scott. You may have some of these tracks on other collections but none im sure as good as these Master Tape transfers.Audio restoration just doesnt come any better.
Superb !!
I have all the previous 10 volumes of this series and play them constantly.I recommend them each and every one.

You may also be interested in similar collections Ace Records have released, such as "Radio Gold"(4 volumes),"Early Girls" (4 volumes),"Chartbusters USA"(3 volumes),"Teenage Crush" (5 volumes) and "The Golden Age of American Popular Music" (1 volume). There is also a Country Special of "The Golden Age of American Rock & Roll".

I have all these in my collection put together over time.I can recommend them all.Listen and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A VERY GOOD ADAM FAITH COLLECTION, 21 Mar. 2006
EMI must have raided their vaults for just about everything that Adam Faith ever recorded for this collection. All the A and B sides of his singles are included and doubtless a lot more besides. It must be admitted that Adam Faith did not have a great voice being very limited as it was.He did however use his voice with his own special style. This combined with talents of John Barry gave Adam a string of hits in the early sixties. Its the recordings with backing by John Barry that are the best in this collection."Poor Me" "How About That" and "Easy Going Me" are all very easy on the ear and good recordings. The remastering of this mono and stereo collection is very good.If you like Adam Faith then this collection is just right for you.And very reasonably priced.Hope you enjoy it as much as i do.
