3.0 out of 5 stars Good little unit, but how long will it last?, 20 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have been using this for about 2 months now.

The picture quality is excellent for such a small camera.
Despite the poorly translated instruction manual you only need half a brain to work it all out.

It is made with lightweight materials so there could be a question as to its potential life span.
The screen scratches easily (not that you really need it) and the unit gets very warm.
Mine seems to stop recording after about 45 min so you will need to hit the record button mid journey.

Battery life is no more than 5 minutes so it needs to remain plugged in which can be annoying and could be a problem if you have a Sat Nav that requires the same charging source.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not great, but it is addictive., 17 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For cricket fans this is a case of beggars can't be choosers.
After such a long wait for a new cricket game the only thing that keeps me smiling about Bradman 14 is that, well, it's a new cricket game.

Despite the fallout from the aborted Ashes 13, Don Bradman 14 fails to live up to the hype.

It has a significant amount of bugs, some of which have already been highlighted in recent reviews.
In my case, one of my custom players was randomly chosen as an umpire. Another was randomly selected to play for the England 1930's team.

Game play is clunky, batting difficult but bowling too easy.
The lack of licenced stadia is a major drawback as the limited number of generic options gets boring after a while.

Graphics are very disappointing and not particularly smooth which is common with other sports games such as Rugby Challenge and AFL Live.

It's saving grace as the level of customisation and the ability to download customised players from the online community.

It's not great, but it is addictive nonetheless although you could argue that International Cricket 2010 remains a better game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Vile diatribe from a deluded man, 7 Jan. 2014
I started to read this book in an attempt to understand how such a deranged man could attract a following that elevated him to a seat in parliament.
Having said that, he is Australian after all! The country that gave us Pauline Hanson. Bernardi and Hanson both seemingly products of the Australian electorates political apathy.

This diatribe is so toxic that if you set fire to the book it's highly the likely the EPA will be onto you.
Australia has a new hate figure. And I for one am overjoyed because we all need a good Voodoo doll to stick pins into while we sit on the toilet.

4.0 out of 5 stars An uplifting laugh!, 15 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Soccer Saturday is the best show TV by a country mile.
During the cold winter months it is nice to sit at home in the warm and be entertained and updated at the same time.

The show has its critics, but the balance of professionalism and playfulness is just about perfect. And this DVD sums it all up.
The only criticism I have is that Jeff Stelling is not great when reading to a script. So the introduction to each section is a bit cheesy.

But the program has most of the best bits that I can remember. A great laugh for Christmas day that should keep the father in law out of the way for a couple of hours.

1.0 out of 5 stars Update - 2Entertain admit cost cutting., 21 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Ashes 2013 [DVD] (DVD)
UPDATE:

Following a complaint to 2entertain (BBC), a bland 2 line response indicated picture quality will vary when so much is squeezed onto a DVD.

So, by their own admission they acknowledged the poor quality of the product and that compressing the content into 2 discs was a deliberate cost cutting exercise.

It now seems a logical progression for people with DVD recorders to simply compile their own highlights programme.
Which! & BBC Watchdog will be notified accordingly.

Macroblocking resulting from poor video compression and high speed data transfer was common place in the early days of DVD production. Today it is simply unacceptable and serves no other purpose than to cut costs. I imagine it stems from an assumption that buyers only want a souvenir or record of an event rather than a high quality product to view repeatedly.
It is disgusting exploitation. I have challenged several production companies about this in the past but this is the first time 2Entertain appear to have gone down this path.

I assumed the ECB had contracted a new digital media partner but the 2005 and 20009 Ashes were also produced by 2Entertain.
I will be writing to the ECB, making sure they understand the damage this could do to their brand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Drama for the intellectual., 3 Sept. 2013
After years of being subjected to dumbed down US `good guy bad guy' drama, comes this brilliant thought provoking masterpiece from France.
Each episode lingers for several hours after you turn off the TV as you try to unravel what you have witnessed.

This is drama for those who want to be challenged, who want something to make them stop and think and keep them intrigued.
If you are the type of person who needs a happy and logical conclusion then you will be disappointed.

The setting is superb and the acting strong. Like a good book this is hard to put down. You will want to watch all 8 episodes at once. But don't, just enjoy, absorb and let your brain develop the plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Collection of Photograph's, 28 Jun. 2013

Much has been written about Dai Woodham's scrap yard, but never before has such a comprehensive collection of superbly produces photographs been assembled in a single publication.
Light on text, but well researched and detailed, this is a brilliantly absorbing history of a famous chapter in the history of rail preservation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive Review but Cheap Production Quality, 28 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Once again I have been left disappointed by the picture quality (macroblocking) of an `ILC Media' production.
There is no excuse for mass produced DVD's to be of such poor video compression. This is something we should only have had to live with in the early days of VHS to DVD conversion.
And as our TV's get bigger, the poor picture is exaggerated. On my 46" Samsung Smart TV it almost becomes unwatchable.

2.0 out of 5 stars Some Issues with Panasonic DVD Recorders, 26 Jun. 2013
It is interesting how some brands of DVD-R media have issues with certain hardware.
In recent months I have been having trouble with Verbatim discs in my Panasonic DVD Recorder and I notice from some reviews that it is not uncommon.
Mid way through burning I get an error message saying the disk is damaged or dirty. This occurs with approx every 3rd or 4th disc.

No blank media is perfect, but the Verbatim failure rate is now too high for me to trust them.
