4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap cheerful alternative, 16 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Well worth the £11.81 I paid. having bought this as a chep alternative to a 4 D cell maglite im pleased with my purchase.
the positives about the tourch are as follows
Nice low priced aluminum torch which is just the right size and weight with fairly decent light out put.

The negative points.
Like the mag kites it has the problem with the lens apparently something to do with the grind on the lens. The batteries move and rattle inside the body and the screw cap for the battery compartment feels cheap and it feels like if your not careful you might thread it, but this feeling is mostly due to the aluminium itself.

Overall great torch for keeping in the house for emergencies and at a nice price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ipad Adapter, 19 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Ok i basically bought this cable so that i can show on the big screen the films i have on the ipad on net flix.

This cable at least the one shown and the one i received are ot genuine apple products and they don't appear to claim that either. The packaging for mine was a plastic slip with a card board top and it was dispatched from Hong Kong arriving in failry quickly, all in costing me under £18.

It work with Net flicks, VLC and the built in player on the Ipad 2. For some reason i have trouble getting the VLC to play with sound straight away and have to put the Ipad onto airplane mode and closing the application altogethr and some times turn the ipad off before relaunching the app and it will play with sound. This does not happen on Net flicks.

There is a second port on the adapter which i'm not sure what uts for but it does look like a 30 pin socket and may enable me to charge the ipad while its playing which would make sense but i have yet to try it out. This coupled with my SD/usb reader for the ipad will extend the usful life of my Ipad2 especially if i jail break it so that the memory can be expanded (have been told that is possible but have not seen hard proof). That is assuming Apple do not release updates to stop them working and or a change in the law preventing the jail breaking of ipads.

Ultimately i'm very happy at this moment with this purchase especially when its almost half the price of the genuie apple one.

4.0 out of 5 stars SD adapter, 19 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this adapter to take advantage of the free wifi you get in hotels when abroard so that i can easily upload my hoilday snaps, At £2.50 a working adapter is a great purchase. It aparently works with other flash cards but i have only tried a SD card in it and the ipad basically does the work. The card does need a dcm folder or something similar whch most digital cameras seem to create automatically.

I don't know if apple will put out an update that will stop you from using this which i hope they don't. If it keeps working it will be an awsome buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Money protector, 13 Feb 2013

Afetr spending £529 on the new Iphone 5 I wanted something taht would give it pretty much alround protection. The case it's self comes in 3 parts the internal case which also has a screen protector and works with screen protector underneath it as well. The second case is like 3mm thick rubber whcih protects the bac and sides with rubber tabs that pull out so you can acces the various switches and sockets. The 3rd bit is a belt clip which acts like a shield if you choose to use it covering the front.
I have dropped it at least once and its protected the phone quite well. As the phoen costs a lot i won't do a test to destruction on it but looks and feels like it will do the job upto the point of some one stepping on the phone. Not sure it would stand up to full blown intentional attack.

It feels like a good soild bit of protective kit.
Sold at £14 which is a really good price.
Water and dust proof to a level.

Makes the phone quite large and destroys the benefits of having a slim line phone (but hey the protection is there).

4.0 out of 5 stars Maglite Alternative, 16 Jan 2013
I ordered this torch a few weeks back as a cheap alternative to the Maglite 4D cell tourch.

Strating with the head of the torch, it has a narrower head than the maglite but the out put is on par with my maglite 2 D cell and appears to have the same problems as the magite with how the light is cast in the middle (not sure what the actual term is but a pattern appears in the centre of the light circle) the light output is strong enough to be seen clearly in day light. The bulbs are intercahnageble with the d cell maglite bulbs and nite ize LED upgrade which seems to get rid of the thing previously mention in both this and the maglite. Where the bulb fits in it is secured by a peice of aluminium which feels nasty and well gives me the feeling that i might cross thread the dam thing, i guess this part is not meant to be touched on a regular basis any way. The body feels solid and is when loaded is a nice weight, the body has straight lines down it instead of the knurled handle like the maglites. There is a spare bulb in the tail cap as well. It has rubber washers which in theory should make it water resistant but i would not like to test it out.
Main quible i have with this torch is the batteries rattle in the body.

This cost me less than £10 from one of the sellers on Amazon and at that price i'm willing to over look the very minor faults. Its a good torch and a very good and cheap alternative to the Maglite.

As with a few of my other reviews i don't feel i need to review the film as its already a classic but instead intend to put down a few bits that will assist people who are considering purchasing a copy of this title from the US.

1) The Blu ray states on the back of the cover that it is a region A disc. After checking various sites which say its multiregion i tried it out. It currently works on my F&H multiregion DVD player and it also works on my Region B PS3.

2) Picture and sound quality is as i have come to expect for Blu ray excelent like on all but 1 of the 80's classics.

3) Special features music video, deleted scenes, alternative ending and a few others but not really worth mentioning on here.

This version is also cheaper than purchasing the region B version which some people appear to be selling at £15 plus.

There are already decent reviews of the film so i don't really need to go into it. Like my review of Open Range i'm going to cover the basic bits I personaly wanted to know and may help others.

Simply this Blu ray appears to be a multiregion disc as it has come from the USA and does not have any region information on the back. It plays on my F&H multi region player set to region B and also demonstatres its not the most uptodate blu ray requiring up dates. It also plays well on my UK PS3.

The Image is sharpe as you would expect and is as good a job as they have done on the majority of the 80's blu ray re-releases and is almost 3HRS long with lots of wide shots to get your moneys worth out of the tech. The Extras with this film are sparse but after 3HRS hey.

This is worth the £5 odd spent.

This book is not going to blow your mind with information and is limited in its uses infact the uses i can come up with other than the usual is its a good refrence guide for any one who wants/needs to put together vintage sets for TV (i'm not one of those people) the other option is just to see things from the past which were in every day use but unique to the region.

Joe Browns Perfect Summer Utility Shirt Ash (42)

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a shirt, 2 Sep 2012

If your planning on a treking holiday, doing alot of travel or just chilling out then this shirt is ideal for you especially if you can get it for under £10.

The shirt is 100% cotton and dies quickly and goes well with a pair of jeans.

The only negative points i can find with these shirts are they appear to come in only 2 colours Light brown/tan and Grey/white. The other negative is the chest pockets are small and just to give you an idea of size you can't fit a box of 24 royals in them.
