2.0 out of 5 stars Oxymoron, 4 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is not a set of 'Baroque Etudes'. I know this because there is no such thing as a 'Baroque Etude'. Even if one thinks of the term 'Etude' to simply mean a virtuosic piece of music, the description of the pieces as 'Baroque' still falls short of what this book contains, which, in short is a LOAD OF OLD RUBBISH. This book has a very self-published vibe, it is almost worth getting for the incomprehensible forward by Bugra Balci, the man you see in the wrong aspect ratio on the front cover of this book, smugly leaning back after writing another 'Baroque Etude', his next project is probably going to be some old rubbish like 'Medieval Symphony' or a 'Renaissance Podcast'? A load of old rubbish if you ask me! These pieces have clearly been written by Bugra himself and they will sound fine if you wish to do a bit of old-style shredding on the bass guitar, but then again, going up and down any old arpeggio sounds amazing if you play fast enough. These are not pieces by any other composer than Bugra Balci, and rather than 'Baroque Etudes', they are a LOAD OF OLD RUBBISH.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beefheart at his best, 20 Jan 2007
This is a seminal beefheart album. It has some of his most influential material in it, his use of instrumentation, his bizarre counter-melodies and his legendary lyrics still have echos in his contemporaries such as Frank Zappa.

A perfect album for the first time Beefheart buyer.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's a fraudulent mess, 28 Jan 2006
I am a great fan of earth wind and fire, but this dvd made be lose a huge amount of confidence in them.
In this dvd, every member of the band is clearly miming, the camera pans to musicians who are wiping sweat of their foreheads while their instrument magically carries on playing!
Do not waste your time with this - or any other EWAF dvd's, unless you are hugely impressed by bright lights and half naked spacemen.
