3.0 out of 5 stars Good idea but..., 8 Sep 2013
This review is from: What Remains [DVD] (DVD)
The idea is very good and I'm assuming is inspired by the tragic Joyce Vincent case. The actual development and script however is very average and at times laughable. There is so many cliches that I lost count (every overweight person stuffs themselves with chocolate, apparently) and Russell Tovey is absolutely awful. A certain school photograph scene still has me laughing out loud and by the way why on earth would a girl like Vidya be with him??? Poor character research there. And isnt it funny that not one normal petson lives in those flats? That aside, it is entertaining enough in its own way, but it's certainly not "great drama". I would buy this but would wait for it to be reduced.

3.0 out of 5 stars Visually stunning. That's about it., 17 Aug 2013
This drama mini series is very pretentious, slow moving and by the end it doesn't really justify six episodes, three would have been fine. The story is not the most original and you really can see the ending coming a mile away. Also, the girl that goes missing is a poor actress and the children are all very annoying. That said it does have good moments. The cinematography is captivating and Peter Mullan completely steals the show. Elizabeth Moss and David Wenham are both fine. It is certainly not bad however it is by no means great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best match but a must have., 11 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The match itself was by no means a classic, I won't say the score incase some people don't know however this is a must have for any fan of tennis or if you're a proud Scot or Brit. Andy was hoping to become the first Scot in 117 years and the first Brit since Fred Perry in 1936 to win this glorious trophy. The ending was great and although the two have played much better matches this DVD is a great document of an epic moment in sport. The greatest moment ever in British sport in my opinion.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ignore other review., 10 July 2013
This book is a fine way to look back over some great matches. It is not the most detailed as I feel there could have been more to say but if you are new to tennis then it may be for you. The other review is silly so do not be put off by the cover! Oh and that picture is not from Wimbledon 2011 as the other reviewer thinks...

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest British Film For Years, 4 Feb 2009
This film can only be described as fantastic. The way the story unfolds is due to masterful writing. In my opinion the worlds best actor Stephen Rea is once again terrific as Jimmy/Fergus,how he didnt win an oscar is beyond me.Jaye Davidson is sensational as Dill and also recieved an oscar nomination. The on ly let downs are Miranda Richardson is like a villain from a comic and Forrest Whittakers accent is awful!lol. However Reas' performance is underplayed and unforgettable

2.0 out of 5 stars A Strange Low Budget Film, 4 Feb 2009
This review is from: Benny's Video [1992] [DVD] (DVD)
I bought this after watching several Michael Haneke films and found it a bit strange. The leading actor gives a good performance but the films a tad bland. It reminded me of so many other films about "lonely people that turn out to be odd".Not his best effort by a long shot

3.0 out of 5 stars Bit too Hollywoody!, 4 Feb 2009
This review is from: Love And Hate [DVD] [2006] (DVD)
This film started off very well with its main character Naseema meeting the ignorant racist who she eventually falls for.The leading girl is fine but the male lead is a bit sloppy at times. Its important because of its message but ends very Hollywood!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best thing on tv for years!, 4 Feb 2009
This review is from: Britz [DVD] (DVD)
I watched this when it was first shown on channel 4 and I have never forgotten it!The two leads Manjinder Virk and Riz Ahmed are both brilliant. Its the only thing that I can think of which has taken a realistic look at terrorists. It shows how good people sometimes have to do bad things
