4.0 out of 5 stars Good so far, 4 May 2012

I bought this pen primarily for note taking on my iPad

As I had not had any previous experience with styli, I spent a lot of time deciding between the Bamboo stylus and the Adonit Jot Pro Stylus in Gun Metal Grey for all touch screens.. In the end I chose this stylus as it would not be loud and there would also be no chance of damaging the screen.

Initially this pen takes a little getting used too. The tip is made of a thin rubber with an air pocket underneath followed by a metal stub. I found the pen to be reasonably responsive under light pressure although the angle the pen can write at is limited by the metal surrounding the rubber tip. The pen is an all metal construction and is weighted nicely, it is slightly shorter than I expected but not too short to use. The pen had the feel of writing on a whiteboard, and to achieve the most accurate drawing I had to zoom in on the iPad. In some applications writing becomes more difficult as they can lag - but this is an app problem not the pen.

I have used the pen a fair amount for a week so far and have not experienced any issues of the tip cracking/tearing etc. but will update if this becomes the case.

Overall I think this pen is probably one of the best on the market as it has a much narrower rubber tip than the competition but still feels fairly natural when in use. Cost-wise it is a little expensive for what it is but I think long term durability will be the deciding factor as to how good a value this is.

I have never used Carmex before but after receiving a free sample I bought some more.

As well as keeping your lips free from being dry, the menthol acts as a anaesthetic leaving an odd (but nice!) tingling sensation after application. The balm itself is easy to apply from the tin and does not make your lips to shiny as others sometimes do. I was a little disappointed as the bottom part of the tin is hollow making it smaller than it looks in the picture.

Overall a decent lip balm which is easy to apply and keep with you whenever you need it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy coffee, 25 April 2012
This machine is great for making hot drinks quickly and hassle free!

This is the top-of-the-range Bosch tassimo machine so comes with lots of extras such as LCD screen and Brita water filter. The screen is mainly useful for telling you when to descale or rinse the machine or just generally if there are any errors. The Brita filter sits in the water tank at the back. This is good for ensuring longevity of the machine in hard water areas. On top of the water tank there is an indicator as to when the filter needs changing. It is worth noting this is just a timer and is not based on usage. The water tank has a compartment above and below the filter so it takes a few seconds for the water to pass through when filling up.

The advantage of the tassimo is the wide range of drinks available at fairly decent prices compared to other systems. The coffees on the whole taste good but I would avoid any milk based drinks as the UHT milk tastes pretty plastic. The machine is fast to produce drinks and passes through the set amount of water depending on the drink, all though extra can be added afterwards. One thing to note is that sometimes the drinks can splash a bit when being dispensed so the the occasional wipe down is required.

Overall a great, compact machine with a good variety of drinks available. It's not the cheapest way to have a coffee, nor the tastiest but is the quickest and easiest way!

I bought this so I could throw my iPad into any bag without worrying about it getting damaged.

It fits an iPad 1 perfectly, and the iPad 2 and 3 fit easily and are fine with the apple smart cover on too. The slatted design is different I guess but is only on the front half of the case (the back is neoprene) and does add a bit to the thickness. There is a nice hidden (ish apart from the zip) pocket on the front which can store headphones/cables well.

The inside of the case is all white which is a bit odd, but makes it easy to find stuff (and see how dirty it is...). There is also a chemical smell which others noted, but who sniffs their case anyway? One side of the inside has a thicker foam/neoprene which is supposed to protect the screen more. A nice touch is the piping inside of the zip which stops the metal zip from rubbing against the iPad edge. One improvement though could be to have the zip go down a little further on one side so the iPad could be kept in the case with a USB cable attached.

Overall it does the job fine but I think it's a little expensive for what it is - a sub £10 price would be better in my opinion.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice bag, 25 April 2012
I bought this bag as it looked a little more stylish compared to the other camera backpacks and also allowed the storage of a laptop whilst remaining not too large.

The bag is quite good quality and looks like it will survive most outdoor conditions, especially with the included rain cover. One thing to note is that the rain cover is stored in a pocket at the top of the rear of the bag but only on one side. This can lead to a little discomfort as it can dig into your back.

The bag itself is a fairly typical camera bag in that is has a large solid base of thick plastic that offers protection as well as the ability for the bag to sit upright. One downside is that the bag does stick out a lot from your back and although the styling is nicer compared to others on the market, it is still visibly a camera bag. One nice option is that the waist belt can be tucked away and the inside dividers all removed to allow the bag to function as a regular backpack. The bright orange inside makes finding objects easy.

The laptop compartment was smaller than expected and my MacBook pro 15" only just fitted after removing a piece of protector foam at the bottom and squeezing the laptop in - this resulted in the laptop pushing against the zip and producing a noticeable bulge in the fabric. I would say a 13" is maximum especially if you want to keep your laptop in another sleeve.

Overall a good back with plenty of space for a DSLR with a few lenses and accessories and laptop if required.

5.0 out of 5 stars A simple scanner, 25 April 2012
I bought this scanner primarily for scanning documents onto my iPad.

The unit itself is a good size and build quality is okay - it is made out of plastic so is a little creaky and bendy in parts but should hold up. The scanner works by grabbing your page as you offer it up which can seem a little disconcerting at first, but you soon get used to it. One thing to note is the maximum page length is just longer than a sheet of A4. Scanning thicker objects such as business cards also worked fine. It usually copes well with paper inserted not straight but occasionally it will not straighten the page causing it to crumple as it passes through.

As this is a mobile scanner it has a built in battery for use. Included is a USB cable for data transfer and charging, although I wasn't able to charge and scan at the same time. There is a port for an extra AC adaptor so this may provide that functionality. The battery life lasts for about 80-100 scans. One thing that is noticeable is that it takes longer to grab the page as the in built memory fills up. There are 2 quality settings which can be used for documents (300dpi) and pictures (600dpi) - there is also a mounting sheet for scanning glossy photos.

The included software is simple but works well. It allows you to combine documents and export as PDFs or image files. OCR functionality is included but it only exports as a PDF not a word document. As well as the USB cable, an SD card or USB stick can be used to collect the scans.

Another version of this scanner is included with a wireless SD card which allows the scans to be transferred as images wirelessley onto a device or onto the Internet. This card can also be bought separately and added to the original version.

For the iPad, scans can be directly transferred using a wireless SD card or a normal SD card and apple camera connection kit. Scans will only upload as Image files though not PDFs.

Overall a good and easy to use scanner. It is a little expensive considering wireless functionality is not standard and lacks things such as a document feeder but the simple usability makes up.
