5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the wii and ds, 12 Jan 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I have heard quite a few bad reviews about the access point, however I proceeded to buy it because it was cheaper than a wireless router. To my surprise and delight it installed in a few minutes(My computer uses ntl broadband). I registered my ds lite within two minutes but when I read the instructions, I saw that it mentioned that the ds has to be 30 feet or less away from the access point. My wii is more than 10 metres away but it worked perfectly.

Overall it is a good, cheap product that is an option if you don't have wireless broadband or enough money for a router.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lara Croft is back! But this isn't the stuff of Legend, 8 May 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
The first thing you notice about Lara Croft:Tomb Raider is the beautiful new graphics. There is such an improvement over the shambles that was 'Angel of Darkness' that you have to congratulate Crystal Dynamics over the great graphic design. The beautiful detail of the vast landscapes from the classic tomb raiders makes a comeback. Lara has also had a makeover. She now looks incredibly realistic and moves with such grace. The precise control of Lara now means that you don't have to spend 20 minutes lining up a jump like 'Angel of Darkness'.

Once you start playing the game, you really start to enjoy the fluid and continuous movement of Lara, the acrobatics and the shooting sections. Lara has equiped some new gear, like her excellent grappling hook that adds a lot of variety to the game and her puzzle-solving goggles, which may mean that you can solve puzzles a lot easier than you should do. She also now has some new moves as well that are entertaining for a while but they start to get boring and repetive. The game has to rely on the brilliance of the acrobatics and shooting sections, for the frustrating puzzles and bosses have, sadly, not made a return.

The new biking sections are hardly entertaining as it is like you are being pushed down an invisible corridor, just like the game, where you have to wake up a few times for a bit of steering. You can get through these section by holding lock-on, accelerate and shoot. The game seems to want you to proceed quickly as there are hardly any points where you have to sit back and think about where the hell you go next. This, and the relatively simple bosses means that you will complete the game in no time. Sadly, the hidden statues in the game don't really offer any reply value so you probably wont be playing it again.

But the croft manor mini-game is excellent. It contains tricky acrobatics, puzzle solving and hidden objects that has everything that the main game doesn't. This is the best part of the game, but again, it is very short.

Unfortunatley, this isn't the Tomb Raider we were all hoping for. It's just not long or hard enough. So, Lara Croft, the fallen angel has arisen, but Tomb Raider, the exciting, puzzle-solving, adventure game is dead. Hopefully the next game will go one step forward.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crash well and truly deserved the oscar!, 29 Mar 2006
This review is from: Crash [2005] [DVD] (DVD)
Crash is a film that looks at the controversay and racism of modern day L.A. It involves a number of stories about normal people who are suddenly involved in racism, and soon, the characters interwine in each other's stories. Crash has a realistic view on the subject and shows exactly what racism is like in the world. The movie is very clever in that all of the characters are joined in their stories and cross each other's paths. The beginning of Crash is quite slow but it carefully builds to to an explosive climax that is extremely exciting and thrilling. There are a few twists in the story line, but if Crash is watched closely, the movie drops a lot of hints about what happens. The movie is sad, exciting, realistic and a really good watch. It well and truly deserved the oscar!

4.0 out of 5 stars Harry Potter magic!, 29 Mar 2006
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (if you have read the books) is the most exciting of the six so far. Harry's involvement in the Tri-wizard Tourament means that the big screen adaption of the best-selling book would look great on paper and the movie certainly doesn't fail to impress. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the best of the four movies so far. The movie is aimed at children of an older age and is certainly enjoyable for adults. The plot sees Harry taking part in a tournament which involves three dangerous tasks for him tho complete. This leads to a series of exciting adventures and great special effects proving that Harry Potter is suited for the movies.

4.0 out of 5 stars really enjoyable, 2 Mar 2006
This review is from: Flightplan [DVD] [2006] (DVD)
With the past plane outing, 'Red Eye' being quite a big hit, it seems that someone else is going to have a crack at the whole plane thing. And fortunatley, Flightplan too is also a great thriller. The film focuses on a woman who leaves on a trip to New York with her daughter on the newly designed plane, that has two stories, bars, lounges and the ability to travel extremley fast. Everything goes wrong when her daughter disappears on board and the crew deny that her daughter was ever on the plane. Fighting against everyone, she has to find the truth behind this mystery. Yes, the story line is reall far-fetched but if you stick with it, you will find it really enjoyable. The movie is really thrilling and has some great scenes and action but at points it is really witless. The centre of the movie is of course the come-back of Jodie Foster, who really propels this movie. Without her, Flightplan probably wouldn't be that great, but anyway it is really good and ends with an surprising twist that really was unexpected. Unlesss you are really against movies in planes or a really good thriller that doesn't fail to excite you should give it a watch and see what you think.

5.0 out of 5 stars must-have game: simply amazing and great fun!, 26 Feb 2006
Mario's past outings on the Kart have been great successes, but this game is Mario's best yet. The main difference is that you can choose two characters to ride on the one kart; one drives and the other one fires the items. This is an inventive idea that does not ruin the classic kart racer but makes the game more varied. Other changes include each individual characters special item, for example, Yoshi's giant egg or Donkey Kong's giant banana. The racing is simply addictive and fun too. There is a great range of karts, tracks and characters and when you have a four player multi-player game there is laugh out loud moments and complete mayhem. The controls are great and easy to use which is great for beginners. The game is okay for a single-player with all the cups to win but it is rock-hard and not as fun as multi-player. There is even more to do than racing. There is a battle mode that has games that include bombs, balloons and shine sprites that is even funnier than the racing!!
Mario Kart Double Dash is an amazing game that you must own if you have four mates that are wanting to play a hilarious game and competitive racing. If you are on your own, it is still a must-have for all Gamecube owners.

3.0 out of 5 stars Complete let-down, 26 Feb 2006
When it comes to videogames, they are likely to get better the second or even third time around but this is not the case with Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. At first you recognise the 3D graphics, which sounds like an improvement on the previous 2D graphics but 3D graphics does not mean better graphics. In the previous games the graphics were nice, clean, simple and colourful. The fact that it was not 3D did not matter due to the great gameplay. The graphics in Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, however, are awful and ugly to look at. The people look completely stupid and created in a rush, the roller coaster are okay but when everything starts moving, the screen turns into a blur. The 'coaster-cam', which allows you to 'ride' the rollercoaster is okay but again, turns into a blur. There are some new features, like the fireworks mix-master which allows you to make your own fireworks show but your own show turns out rubbish compared to the ready made one and yes, there is only one. There is not much difference in gameplay and things to do but there are some new coasters and rides, some really good and others just silly. The game is not addictive and you will find that unless you have the expansion packs, the game quickly turns boring. If you have the previous games, stick with them but if you are new to the tycoon games, give it a go, if you don't mind the graphics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gruesome and scary: House of Wax is awesome!, 18 Feb 2006
This review is from: House Of Wax [DVD] [2005] (DVD)
What do people want in a scary movie? A bit of gore, tense moments, a scary psycho? If that's want you want in a horror movie, House of Wax fits the bill perfectly. If you ignore the acting skills of some of the young victims(hmmm...Paris Hilton)you are slowly introduced to the simple story. Teen-agers on a trip, car gets sabotaged, find nearest town, look in the macabre 'House of Wax', get killed off one by one. House of Wax is so entertaining. It has horrible murders and gruesome incidents that get you hooked from the word go. There are also some really exciting chases through the derelict town and after all the murders and chases you come to the end where the movie leaves you on a deadly cliff-hanger that makes you want to watch it again and again. Brilliant!

4.0 out of 5 stars Daft but exciting little thriller, 18 Feb 2006
This review is from: Red Eye [DVD] (DVD)
Ignore the other amazon reviews, Red Eye is a small little thriller that is thrilling and exciting to watch. I do admitt that some sections are ludicris but if you ignore the daftness you realise that this is a great movie. The acting is good even though Cillian Murphy is a bit unconvincing as a man who intends to hurt and kill others. The plot starts off okay but gets carried away with its own sillyness and is extremley far-fetched but what movies nowadays aren't? Red Eye is a very good watch because it is extremely different to other thrillers out in shops. Even though it has its faults at least the movie tries to be different and certainly enterains.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buzz the Music Quiz: Excellent fun and mayhem, 2 Feb 2006
Buzz the Music Quiz is like no other game. Buzz is an interactive music quiz for the Playstation 2 and with the game you get four buzzers which are suited perfectly for the game and really make you feel as if you're in a game show. Trust me, it wouldn't be any fun with the usual playstation controlller.
Once you get your head around the whole prospect of a music quiz in your living room you realise you've found a real gem. The game lets you chose a character to play as ranging from a punk dude to a disco diva. You also choose from old, new and all music, enter your name, chose a buzzer noise and you're thrown into the quiz. From the start this game throws questions at you that are really good. The difference in rounds keep the game enticing and some rounds like Pass the Bomb and Point Stealer create mayhem in your living room but there are still classic buzz in and answer the question rounds. There is doubt that the Music Quiz is a hilarious game that bring family and friends together. Don't get put off by the MUSIC bit, though. If you're not that great at music it is still so much fun. The rounds are explained in detail and after a while you'll be a music genius.
