4.0 out of 5 stars Steam Streaming, Kodi and a great screen., 25 May 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Received mine this afternoon. I needed a windows tablet for mainly web browsing, light gaming (if it can) and other windows only apps that I use. Also note that I have 2 iPads and a gaming laptop so I have a base line to compare against.

So, real experience:
First off, the plug that comes with it is one of those adapter plugs where you attach the 3 pin part onto a secondary part so it works in the UK. First time I got it stuck as it simply caught itself and jammed. I had to bend the pins back into alignment to fix that mishap, then noticed that it has alignment arrows on it. After finding that it was easy to assemble but it is a cheap and nasty feeling power adapter and not very well designed.

I attached the screen to the keyboard which allowed me to open the device out like laptop, it all feels good quality actually.

While setting up windows, half way through the orientation jumped into portrait. Not a problem though as you can just lift the tablet away from the keyboard until you can turn rotation lock off in windows settings.

The tablet loaded up, windows was bright (default 75% brightness) and the screen looks great to be honest.

The keyboard works fine, it feels ok too. The mouse pointer was smooth using the pad and two finger scrolling works great. I was worried here based on other reviews.

Connected to my Wifi straight away, full strength signal and downloads apps as you would expect any device on your network.

The battery said it was 84% charged, while installing Chrome, Steam and doing windows updates it carried on charging and is now 98% charged while I am using it.

When you do windows update, make sure you scan again as first time it says "no updates at this time", thats a lie, scan again as this takes about two to three hours to install important updates.

So, after a few hours:

1. Feels good
2. Keyboard is fine, works well, touchpad works well but is also very sensitive.
3. Screen is great, windows looks happy to be on it.
4. Responsive, so far it has paused a couple of times but that is while I am setting it up and things are happening in th background.
5. Plug is naff
6. Charges while you use it
7. Sound is on the quiet side when at 100% volume but was perfectly fine for watching catch-up tv in bed.
8. Wifi worked in a room that my iPhone 5 can't get a connection.
9. Conforms with the new Windows 10 guidelines that require tablets to have minimum 2 GB ram.

I also changed the intel HD driver to use performance over quality, via tray icon setting
I dropped brightness to 50% as that was still as bright as my other monitors. and use 25% at night which is like my Kindle paper white brightness.

..The next day
Last night I was surfing the web, watched several episodes on iPlayer and the battery when I turned it on this morning is at 70% which is great for about 3 or 4 hours messing about yesterday. I was expecting this to only last 5 hours of use but with the correct settings it appears my tablet could run for much longer.

Steam Streaming. This allows you to stream a game from another computer on the network to the tablet. This worked first time and was as smooth as butter playing Grim Dawn. You can also plug in an XBox controller into the USB port.

Kodi installs and runs great within the 5 minutes I tried it.

So a 2GB tablet that does Kodi, Steam Streaming and has full windows 10 home on it for this price is a bargain.
Will update this review if anything bad happens over the coming days / weeks.

Update: 28th May 2016
The Realtek Bluetooth conflicts with the Realtek WiFi on this tablet. This is most likely a driver issue. I could not use external Bluetooth stereo speakers without it stuttering every 10 seconds. Linx, Realtek or Microsoft have so far not replied to my question about this. However. I attached a 4 quid bluetooth dongle to the USB port,disabled the onboard realtek one in device manager and viola, can now have Wifi and Bluetooth audio at the same time. Removed one star for this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good first impressions., 18 May 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Why:
With a 2013 Mac Pro and a very fast 512 GB internal drive I was at a loss as to what external to get for data, mostly Final Cut X Projects that are 99% complete but not ready for archive. As a freelancer I don't have tons of cash to throw around so going for an external PCI-e SSD option was too expensive. I bought the 4TB drive. Also, at a later date I can get the 128GB PCI-e SSD add-on card for it if I need to do very demanding editing.

Setup:
Setting up was simple, just plugged in the Thunderbolt 2 cable, power cable and up it popped. Installed the setup file that was on the Lacie drive which allowed me to partition for bootcamp and OSX (basically Fat32 and a Mac file system). Once that had done the drives appeared in finder and was ready to use. Note, you can partition as all Mac if you like. Nice to have the option though.

Speeds:
10 minute HD video, about 4,500 files and 22Gig in size.
===========================================
Mac Pro => Lacie = 2 mins
Mac Pro => Synolgy NAS (Network drive) = 8 mins
Lacie => Mac Pro = 2 mins
Mac Pro >= Mac Pro = 1 Min

Noise:
It has a lot of rubber feet to reduce noise, made a slight hum so moved it to my GEL mouse mat that I use for the Time Capsule. Now it's silent when copying files. The blue light is quite bright but I have it placed so you can't see the light anyway so thats a non issue. On the Mac the manual says you can power the drive down by holding in the light if needed.

Summary:
So far very happy with speeds and cost. Faster than USB 3. Noticed that Time Machine backup had excluded the Lacie volumes from the backup so you may want to add that back in if this is a work drive. It's quick enough to work from, not sure about 4K+ editing but anything less should be realtime.

Bought the XXL for my larger than average Cocker Spaniel. He jumped in it the moment it was unpacked then wouldn't let anybody near him so that's a good sign. Feels good quality but only had it a few hours so time will tell. The only thing I would change is that the fleece top is white which won't last more than a few days. Prefer a dark colour topper.

I'm 6 foot tall and weigh about 13 stone. Can bounce on this no problem without fear of hitting the floor. Don't use on soft english grass though, the feet will burrow down and when you pull it out the end caps come off and stay in the ground. Nothing a pair of long nose pliers can't solve. Has double V springs attached to an S bar all around under the blue cover. Takes 5 mins to assemble.

Great bedside or office lamp. If using for office then it isn't very tall so keep that in mind. Will probably buy a second one. The USB port is very useful.
