4.0 out of 5 stars Good book covering the history and crash of this legendary airship., 3 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having read a previous book about the Hindenburg disaster, i felt compelled to read about the British airship R101 disaster which happened 7 years earlier than Hindenburg. This book covers the construction, career and crash in detail and gives food for thought.

Stinger
Stinger
by John Nichol
Edition: Hardcover

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but other novels by Mr Nichol are better!, 3 Jan 2014
This review is from: Stinger (Hardcover)
This book is a follow on from Exclusion zone and deals with RAF Pilot Sean Reiver and his struggles to break away from war and also dealing with his lost love. While the book has plenty of action and has a good story line and is easy to follow, for me it lacked the drama and excitement that i found when reading exclusion zone.

Decisive Measures

2.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great., 3 Jan 2014
This review is from: Decisive Measures (Paperback)
I have read all of the other novels by John Nichol, but i was slightly dissapointed with this one. Plenty of action and drama, and gore if you like that sort of thing, but i felt the story was too long.

Tornado Down
Tornado Down
by John Peters
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Graphic. Very Good., 11 Dec 2013
This review is from: Tornado Down (Paperback)
The book is from the horses mouth. Written by the aircrew who endured a gruelling and at times inexplicable experience. They go into detail abouthow they were shot down, their subsequent capture and torture, and how they felt about being paraded on Iraqi TV. Very enjoyable read. Two heroes indeed from the first Gulf War.

Team Tornado: Life On a Front-Line Squadron
Team Tornado: Life On a Front-Line Squadron
by John Peters
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book about life on a frontline Tornado F3 Squadron., 11 Dec 2013
I bought this book at an air display in 2002 when John Nichol was on a stand selling them, and he signed my copy!. Excellent book for anyone wanting an insight into life on a frontline RAF squadron, although the book isn't for the casual observer.

Exclusion Zone
Exclusion Zone
by John Nichol
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good fictional story., 11 Dec 2013
This review is from: Exclusion Zone (Hardcover)
I read this book some time ago and was very enjoyable. With Argentina still taking an interest in the Falkland Islands today, it was easy for me to read this story of an RAF Pilots experience while thinking how close we have come to war again since. The book contains an RAF Pilots bitterness towards his heroic ( and dead ) brother and also his quest to emulate him in some way. It also contains a delicate love story.

It was nice to go back to the early days of Hornet Squadron. Enjoyable read. The attitudes of the pilots of the Royal Flying Corps are captured superbly.
