4.0 out of 5 stars Best jigsaw game, 2 Mar. 2013

this jigsaw game is by far the best I have played on the kindle fire. The adverts getting in the way issue is not an issue on the fire and works fine.

There are many free jigsaw expansion packs that give you many new pictures to put together. If you want to buy others you can. All seem to function fine.

Some improvements could be made such as the save system, but as long as you know what picture you are on with what settings it loads up no problem.

Recommend it.

When I saw this I was looking forward to it but in reality is just a slide show. There is no category or even search function. You can only swipe through all the ship's. Due to this I don't find out very useful.

1.0 out of 5 stars A reluctant read, 22 Aug. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Couldn't get in to this at all and abandoned it after a few chapters. Quite disappointed in light of all the positive reviews. Just couldn't identify with or feel anything for Stacy except mild dislike from her size 6 skinny jeans to her potty mouth and sneering attitude. The dialogue seemed very over done. The female characters unfortunately skipped feisty and appear more catty and phoney.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing like Duke & very boring, 27 Jun. 2011
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
With all the really bad reviews I thought maybe people were being too harsh! After 20 mins of this game you do realize the bad reviews were spot on! My main points are below :-

Bad load times for on average graphics.
Very boring game play
Duke is a pansy this time and most things he says is not funny and very un-cool!

Thats about all there is a to it really. If you like that sort of thing buy it??

Some people say we are missing the point of what Duke is all about. Well I have played the originals, and sorry, but this game is just BAD! Just because it has Duke in it does not justify anything! - dont kid your self!

IF you want a real bad ass experience thats really cool and hard core, buy Serious Sam, he is everything Duke tries to be, but cant! I think part of the problem is Duke's humor and attitude is old hat now, does not work anymore and basically Duke should NEVER have come back, he would have died a legend.....not back as a pansy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not to miss out on, 2 Jun. 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mass Effect (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
After my computer blew up I ended up building a nice new shiny one. Once complete I was able to have the power to play some titles I missed out on. Mass effect was on the list.

I always hear great stuff about Mass Effect and recommended by everyone. I was going to go for Dragon Age, but as I had already played never Winter Nights etc I thought a theme change would be nice. After all I am a massive Sci-Fi fan.

So I installed and started up Mass Effect. I created my character and chose a Female Infiltrator. As soon as the game started I was addicted. The graphics a little out dated still looked good and the character movements and speech was spot on. It was really fun speaking to people just to see what they had to say. I took my time taking in the new universe that I had entered and found it was really realized and thought out. I was not just in a game I was in another universe - cool stuff! I think I actually prefer it over the Star Wars universe!

Action was fun and story started off well, with decent music to back it up.

Overall I fully enjoyed the game as it had lots to offer and one of the best sci-fi games going.

However, felt it was let down in a couple areas. The middle of the game can be very slow as there are lots of side quests that in a way was a bit distracting as they had nothing to do with the story and felt nearly all identical. This was party effected by the fact nearly every planet was the same, just a barren empty place, with no trees, structures or anything to give them an individual identity. The bunkers you go into were exactly the same, so after visiting the 20th planet to complete a side mission, it started feeling tiresome! The main story seemed far off. Of course you dont have to complete these side missions, but in a game like this you want to explore and complete everything! Once all side missions are complete and the main story takes off again, its full on exciting action right to the end.

Other small problems is the inventory system in the game is the worst ever! Everything automatically gets picked up when you kill enemies which is fine until after a mission you check your inventory only to be presented with all the items you picked up. You can either keep them, most of which you will already have, but some may be a slightly better rank. So you dont want to take all, but the rest you can convert into a resource. However the lack of options leaves you to have to click on each item individually to decide what you want to do with it. it took me nearly 25 mins once just to shift through all the rubbish.....god was I board!

The upgrade system is fine, but always felt the points made such a small difference that over all you never noticed it. However, from start to finish there was a huge difference, its just so gradual you dont feel it.

So overall, fantastic game, but it does have its down falls, it hurts me to say that as I love the game, but I need to be honest.

If you are thinking about buying it, just go for it, think its one not to miss!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, especially for Indy fans!, 18 Mar. 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Im a big Indiana Jones fan and have played nearly all the games. As the Wii certainly has a large database of rubbish, poorly made games I always do a bit of research before jumping out and buying a game. This game did have quite a lot of negative reviews, so I was very unsure. However, it also had a lot of good reviews from Indy fans and others just trying it. Anyway, I took the plunge and got the game. So was it worth it...oh yes! It was very Indiana Jones like and the fights are fantastic! Sure it took a little bit of getting used to, but like anything a bit of practice goes along way. The main complaint about this game is the controls. I can 'sort' of see why people say this, but to be honest I have not had many problems. Sometimes in the middle of a fight I try to do a certain punch and Indy does something else, bit he still hits the guy and so what if it goes a bit wrong as a result, its dirty fighting and its portrayed well. The whip is used fully too, especially in fights and comes in really handy! As for the puzzles, its a pretty linear game so I dont think people will get stuck in it for long and puzzles are easy to figure out. However, the game does have certain moves called 'Glory Moves' which you need to pull off in levels to unlock more game content, hidden artifacts which also unlock more content, so trying to find these is were the challenge is, some are very hard to find! Graphics wise, good for a Wii game, nice details and looks crisp on a HD cable. One problem that bugged me was for some reason the Wii version of this game does not have Indy wearing his bag? Its a pretty big symbol of his dress code...also were does he put all his goodies? How can such a thing be forgotten! The game also includes Fate of Atlantis which is a fantastic point and click game, bit dated now, but one of Indy's best adventures! However, there is no way to get rid of the subtitles which is a bit of a let down.

However, I may love this game and I do recommend it, but it does have its flaws! So here is the warnings. First of all, there is no way to skip cut scenes! This is not a big issue until you keep loading levels up to try to complete glory moves, look for artifacts and the odd bits in the game were you may keep dying! The controls are a bit iffy, but not as bad as people are reporting, simple small moves are best, rather then swinging your arms around like mad! The worst bit of the game I found was a bit involving a piano on a crain! The controls are much too sensitive and as a result comes very frustrating to complete this bit of the game. However, it is possible and it is near the end of the game, so if you got that far, you must be enjoying the game and hopefully will make time to practice and get past this bit! Just for the record I have completed the game 100%, so I have unlocked everything. Overall, if you are not a Indy fan, try this game, you may like it, just give it a chance, if you are an Indy fan you will love this game and have many hours of fun...especially with the dirty fighting!

5.0 out of 5 stars UT2004 Buy it now!!, 25 July 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
In three words Best Game Ever! Ok, bit more information on why this is would be useful. It's a fast FPS, so the only reason you would not like this game is it you hate FPS, anybody else will love it. Its fast action paced shooter set in the future. There are multiple game types, including Death Match, Capture the Flag, Onslaught, team Death Match, Invasion, Bombing Run. Basically you are either by your self with the aim to kill as many of your opponents as possible. Other modes require you to work together to defeat the other team by either flag captures, goals or even just surviving. So there is a bit of what ever you fancy at the time offered. Ut2004 is very similar to UT2003 in content, but UT2004 has much upgraded bits and bobs, but mainly for the Onslaught game mode. This mode requires you to work as a team to capture small power nodes, then keep them defended while other team members go for the next small power node in the level. Once all the small power nodes are captured by your team the enemy base power cores shield goes down and your team must destroy it to win the match. Sounds great fun right....and it is. It gets better, you get to drive powerful tanks, fly ships different types of vehicles such as buggies and jeeps. Some of the vehicles allow other team members to pop in for a ride, while also being able to help defend or attack with the other gun mounted. Its great fun wiping out a squad of enemies by simply driving over them! Everything about the game is fun! Oh and before I forget, I have to mention the Leviathan, this is a special vehicle, its huge, and it's the most powerful vehicle in the game. It can have up to four other teams sit in for a ride and fire powerful turrets while the main driver can deploy the main gun. This thing requires the vehicle to stop, and deploy the gun, which takes about 10 seconds to unfold and then when you fire nothing survives in the blast range.....which is also big. It's the most dreaded vehicle in game. When the enemy heads for your base in one of these its time for everyone to start panicking and attack before it reaches its intended target!

So what about other things. Well the AI is amazing, so you don't have to just play on Internet with other real people. The AI can be set to be very easy for beginners and very hard for experiences players, so the game never gets easy. They play and work together very well and follow orders very good.....if you give them orders, purely optional, but good way to get them to do what you want to win a match. You can quite easily forget you are just playing against a silly computer, as the AI make them feel like real characters. The weapons are fantastic and very varied....guarantee there is a weapon for everybody. There is no particular super weapon that everybody uses. They all have their own particular way of using it. Some prefer and are better with certain weapons then others. All the levels are varied and have different themes which is nice as you can pick what ever level you feel like playing. The game also comes with a good number of levels to keep you going for a while. The graphics are very good, very clear and also can be very detailed. Some great effects are often present too. The sky in some levels are breath taking and feels very real. Even to todays standard the graphics are still some of the best out there. Never do I play a level and think this is getting old now. It will also run on almost any computer, it still looks very good on older machines and can be configured in many ways to suit what you feel is most important to you. But if you can wack graphics right up, then do!

So that pretty sums up my onion of the game. I should also note that the game comes with UnrealEd which is the same editor used to create the many maps in the game. Due to this there are thousands of maps on the internet you can easily download and add to your collection. There are some very talented level designers out there and some of the maps are hundreds of times better and fun then the retail levels and that's not saying they are bad. Some of the custom made maps made by the community are so good you would never have seen anything like it in any other game, some are so original its crazy. There are also map packs which include many of the best community maps in an easy to install manner. Also as the game is so easy to modifiy, there are also many many mods that add game play and player models to download like Smith from matrix, Homer Simpson, new weapons. All can be added and rremoved easily or even combined. This effectively makes the game never old, there is always new content and new ideas being made, so you can never get bored. The only reason to move onto new UT games is due to better engine and even better effects and graphics.

As a personal matter, due to the superb levels made by the community and the included UnrealEd for creating new levels, I now design and create my own levels and find the included editor very powerful and fun to use. I have made maps for community mods and also normal maps just for fun. I have gone beyond that now and now also Model my own Static Meshes and texture/ skin my own stuff. So I can now produce 100% custom content for my levels....all this because UT2004 was so good and made me curious, I had no idea it would go this far. UT2004 will always be fun to play and sit happily on my HDD.

So stop reading and buy this game if not already. It will entertain you for as long as you want! Remember one of the stronger elements is the mod community on the Internet so check it out, so much content to download.

5.0 out of 5 stars best gun battles ever!, 18 July 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: F.E.A.R. (PC CD) (Video Game)
As a fan of FPS, this game was one of the ones I was very interested in and supposedly one of the top FPS being made at the time. So upon realize I got my self a copy. It ran well on my computer with a few tweaks and everything turned up high, but I can see why some people say it's a system hogger. However, before I go any futher, due to the nature of the game, it really is best played at max detail. If you cant run it at max and you are planning to upgrade then play it first time on max when you can. The reason is because it has some great visual effects and the feel of the game and environments is amazing and very scary at times. Playing it on anything less then max destroyed the feel and does not give you the best experience. My opinion anyway!
So was the game any good. Oh yes, very defiantly. It plays well, and the detail of the various levels is at a high standard, everything also looks crisp. However, what makes the game so amazing and stand out from the rest is its gun fights and AI. The gun battles are incredible, bits of furniture fly about, lumps of plaster break from the walls, hanging pictures get blown wonky, shelf's fall....everything reacts to gun fire. So a clean nice room can look like a battle zone after.....which is what happened! Checking a grenade will not just go bang and hurt anyone near by, it will explode like any explosion with a cool looking shock wave, anything near by will be shattered, damaged or blown apart/away, and any enemies near by will not just fall, but have their legs or arms blown off. The powerful guns in the game can also remove limbs and even heads! the after effects from gun fire is also very cool, if you are shooting at enemies and hit the walls and concrete the bullet impacts will realistically create impact dust that floats about after a fight for a while before settling, creating a cool after effects as the room eventually becomes clear and you can see what devastation you just created, fantastic!
However, just shooting enemies with cool gun fire effects is not what its all about. The AI is the best I have ever seen, yea they can be realty dumb, but so can real people, but they can also be very clever and you really do feel you are up against a crack elite soldier unit. They will throw grenades, get behind you, dodge out of gun fire, roll about, push any furniture available down such as cabinets to use as cover to shoot back. Also they talk to each other like a real unit, requesting backup, running if they are all that's left, and also swear when they realize its not going their way or you caught them unexpected! I have played the game many times now and every time it's a joy to play and the enemies still surprise me and often catch me unexpected.

As an extra feature, you can slow down the action, this is a core element of the game as your reflects are feaster. The effect is cool, even better then matrix style and allows you to do some amazing battles as you have that extra bit of time to maybe see a fire extinguisher and think, I shall shoot that and kill the two enemies standing next to it, instead of shooting them with all my bullets and risk them shooting back in the process. When the enemies do fall, they fall spectacular and very realistic...its quite scary how real it can feel at times!
You can also only carry a few weapons at a time, so choose wisely and also think about how much ammo you got for each weapon, as you don't want to run out quickly of the weapon you plan to use!

The story is also very creepy and scary and will have you jumping about lots or feeling very very nervous about what's around the corner. I would say the story was pretty good and keeps you going.

This is one of my favourite games and enjoyed playing it much more then I expected. There are also two expansion packs, but not played them yet, yet to buy one and the other is not out yet. However, I will be getting them!!

If you like FPS, buy this, its so worth every penny in my opinion! I also find it's a got a fun replay value!

Half-Life 2 (DVD ROM)

2.0 out of 5 stars Half-Life 2, did they put wrong CD in case?, 17 July 2007
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Half-Life 2 (DVD ROM) (Video Game)
I am a great fan of FPS and play most of the popular ones. I was a huge super fan of the original Half-Life, including its expansions Opposing force and Blue shift. I cant count the number of times I completed these. So when I heard they were making Half-Life 2, I was very excited. No other game had or has come close to the enjoyment of original Half-Life. Though dated now and I don't play it much anymore, I am waiting for a game to make me just as amazed and enjoy playing. Half-Life 2 was going to be it, hopefully. I read all information regarding Half Life 2 on the internet, this is were I started getting a bit concerned about it, but thought, I would be wrong, the game will be amazing.

So when it did come out, I installed it and started playing. Immediately I could tell the game was very polished and the engine could do many cool things and special effects. However, im afraid my amazement stopped there!!

What happened to half-Life........what is this?? The original more or less felt present time, maybe a tad in the future, Traditional army called in to clean the area up, aliens attacking, all strange and wired varieties. The setting was in the middle of the desert away from any major cities or population. The complex was huge, with many different areas, used to belong to military before scientific experiments. I loved the bio hazards and radiation etc. Scientists running about needing your help and trying to survive to stop the invasion. The ending was good, but obviously had a chance to continue. So when it did it was Half-Life 2. Suddenly you are in a strange City with a human population, and there is a strange police unit about suppressing humans and controlling them.....ok. I more or less knew were I stood before and what was happening, but this was all new and strange. (I realise this was the idea), but nothing what so ever was Half-Life except a few people from the last game and a crowbar. Anyway, I completed the game, but I had to force my self. Even if it felt nothing like Half-Life and technology and everything was different, it was a dull game.

Hardly no cool aliens, just alien police units that try to capture you all the way through the game. Every time they dies they made the exact same noise and what about the AI....thought it was good? Most of the game I stood around a corner and they knew exactly were I was, so I waited, fired...bang, enemy dead...next....bang dead....next bang...dead. Until every body was dead in that area and I ended up with a massive, huge pile of bodies in one area. Now and again, the AI went behind me, but they were so noisy I just picked the odd one off from behind when I heard it coming. The puzzles were way to easy, any puzzle was physics, so take a look about and see barrels or bricks, pile them up or move them about and puzzle solved......why bother, it was juts slowing you down. Also it was a FPS right....or maybe im wrong. The car and boat levels were sooooo long. I got so bored, again, shoot predictable enemies, simply pile something up to get boat or car past, level after level after level. If I wanted a car game I would buy one!! All through the game I never knew what was happening except a few bits and bobs. I didn't like any of it, I wanted Half-Life....were was it? It says it on the box! Did they put the wrong CD in?

I think if you never played original Half-Life this game may appear amazing and great. It has a lot to offer, but don't ever think about comparing it to Half-Life. Its not, except a crowbar! I think I would have enjoyed it more if they named it City 17 and had nothing to do with Half-Life, that way I would except it for what it was and maybe enjoy it. So half-Life started and ended with Half-Life and its expansions. For me there is NO Half-Life two! Also the engine was used to much better effect in Dark Messiah, now that uses Half-Life 2 engine much better and is much more fun! If they remake Half-Life on Half-Life 2 engine, that would be good, not source, but properly. Check out Black Messa (mod community), thats Half-Life 2 folks!!

Bottom line, everybody will not except its not Half-Life because it is....only its nothing like it and destroys everything Half Life was. If you like FPS, then buy this, but call it City 17 or something and play it as if it was a different game and never compare it to half-Life!!
