5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, 19 Feb 2013

These characters are a bit of a guilty pleasure, but they are very enjoyable to read about, and you care about them. Lovely to see Tim's side. Read Something Like Summer first, then you care about the characters and this book feels less self indulgent (I don't mean that in a nasty way).

This was bought as a gift for a friend for the title alone. I cannot comment on the therapeutic value of the book.

This review is from: St Trinian's [DVD] [2007] (DVD)
Bought as a Christmas present, and was watched by the family and was really funny. The plot isn't that great but as something that was light-hearted it really worked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 10 Nov 2011
This book had some quite in-depth ideas for a 'popular science' book. It was very well written and flowed well. The only criticism is that the section on the "power laws of biology" and fractals (or lack of them) in biological systems did drag. Having said that it introduced me to concepts I hadn't previously thought of and was interesting throughout.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but..., 10 Nov 2011
This book was interesting, it opened my eyes to a non-reductionist view of life with some interesting examples but throughout it was peppered with references to other chapters in the book which was annoying. As a non-musician I found the musical metaphors unhelpful, though his reflections on the use of metaphor were very well thought through. If you're a musician (with an interest in biology), I'd recommend it, and if you have a reductionist view of evolution or life processes, read this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Useful, 10 Nov 2011
Bought this textbook as recommended reading for the Cambridge TSA, while I haven't taken the test yet, it has been very helpful in understanding the processes behind thinking, and how to get to answers. Would recommend this to anyone also taking the TSA.
