3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but hugely frustrating, 24 Nov 2012

It's quite good at pointing out what is worth doing and what isn't and good at warning you about little frustrations you may not have expected. It's a good general background read. But Navigating your way around Tokyo using the maps in this book is simply a joke. There's a map section at the back which has maps of various parts of town which are shall we say...up to normal Lonely Planet level (i.e. a bit rubbish, not enough landmarks on the maps, many roads unmarked) but worst of all, none of these maps join onto one and other so if you're trying to walk from one district to another, there's a considerable black spot between two maps which you have to freestyle your way through. If you buy this, make sure you also buy a map of some description.

Finally, it doesn't even mention Yokohama which is part of the greater Tokyo area and in my opinion well worth a visit. If you are planning on visiting Yokohama for an afternoon (which I would recommend), print off the Wikitravel article which is fairly helpful.

2.0 out of 5 stars Exposure wrong and not adjustable, 24 Nov 2012
If the lighting outdoors isn't perfect, i.e. it's a cloudy day, the auto adjustment of the exposure time massively over compensates and thus leaves all pictures on a cloudy day looking over exposed. I was taking some photos of temples surrounded by high trees and the entire top of the photos (i.e. where the trees end and the sky starts) is way too bright and blurred. You can't manually adjust the exposure time, only chose from a variety of "scene settings" or "auto white balance modes", none of which do the trick. I've had to edit all of my holiday photos retrospectively on my PC.

Other than that, the images aren't hugely sharp but not too bad for the price range. Battery life is good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very warm so far, 19 Oct 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
So I have been going wakeboarding this October in the UK and have literally been too warm. Cannot comment yet on how well it will last but so far all the signs are good. Great value for money. All my mates wearing more expensive wetsuits are already freezing and I sometimes need to jump in the lake just to cool down if I spend too much time without falling in
