5.0 out of 5 stars A real page turner, 6 Jan 2014

I was encouraged to buy George Goodwin's book on Flodden having read his earlier, fascinating book on the background to the wars of the Roses and the battle of Towton. Fatal Rivalry does not disappoint. It is well written, well researched and conveys a captivating account of the influence of the European renaissance and technological progress (printing, armaments) on the courts of Henry VIII of England and James IV of Scotland and also on the conduct of warfare. For someone who is new to this period, it provides a great introduction to a critical period of Anglo-Scottish history, and an important reminder of the importance of the historical stories which are believed at different times. The account of the battle itself also reminds us to beware of thinking that just because something happened, it was bound to happen. It wasn't.

5.0 out of 5 stars a useful and easy-to-read guide to investing, 15 Jan 2013

Yoram Lustig's "Multi-Asset Investing" is a comprehensive, wise and easy-to-read guide to designing and implementing investment strategies for private investors. It should have a place on the bookshelf of any financial adviser or do-it-yourself investor. Yoram Lustig (a former colleague of the writer) draws on his wide experience as a wealth manager to tell us how to, and how not to, use the historical record from markets to guide actual investing. His advice on how history can mislead as well as inform investors (for example in assessing risk) is a highlight of the book. At the same time, his extensive use of interestingly presented long run charts (updated through mid 2012) for the performance of a wide range of investments and financial and economic indicators is particularly helpful and informative, and reason enough to buy the book.

This review is from: Grave Doubts (Hardcover)
Gruesome and shocking and terrifying, but at the same time beautifully written, "Grave Doubts" really is a thriller. Elizabeth Corley's earlier books were good, but her latest has an edge which takes her writing to new peaks. It really is a quite exceptionally good book.

If you are going to buy Quake 3 arena definately buy this bundle, the game simply must be played with a keyboard and mouse if you are planning on being good. And its at such a great price, in many high street shops this would cost 80 pounds.
