5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZON - WRONG DETAILS?, 2 Mar. 2016
This review is from: Motown Anthems (Audio CD)
AMAZON appear to have the wrong details on this listing. Motown Anthems Box set is actually a 4 CD set with 96 songs, unlike the similar cover on Motown Nations Favourites which is a 2CD 40 song collection. Amazon lost a sale as I bought mine elsewhere to be sure of getting the right product. The album itself is excellent and well worth the money, with only a few of the obvious classics missing, and a few lesser known ones included, which made it interesting to go through and listen to.

4.0 out of 5 stars The book develops nicely with tales and legends that formed the business, 13 Mar. 2015

This review is from: Cowboys and Indies (Hardcover)
A fascinating look at the recording industry from the VERY beginning. Who would have known that Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison amongst others were the very core of the industry. The book develops nicely with tales and legends that formed the business, sometimes in a jumpy sort of way that can throw you off track. The mention of a name early on is out of context by the time it appears again later in the book, and much suffling back and forth to reference the connections between names is needed to follow the biger picture at times. That apart, it has all the pieces in the story that come together to meet up with many of the familiar names of today or the recent past. Well worth reading a couple of times to grab the important points that you can so easily miss in one session.

4.0 out of 5 stars MAKE YOUR MIND UP TIME.. an old phrase from Opportunity Knocks, 13 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Getting Over the X (Hardcover)
On reading this I was immediately torn between the solid sympathy for Steve the artist and person, and the need to shake him out of his own personal search for that sympathy. It's one thing to get the disaster that the X-factor so obviously is for some people, but it's another thing completely to have the constant complaining about it hanging over this man's very obvious talent and his decency as a person. Finally, though, the pendulum swings one way, and you know that X-factor is the baddie in the story.... made up of several baddies in fact. However you get to the final point, it is essential that anyone considering ANY of these TV shows should read this first. Many will still go ahead and chase the dream, but at least they will have one eye open when doing so. A very good read, and worth the price in many ways, one of which is that it will help support Steve as he works his way through life in the music business.

1.0 out of 5 stars Might be entertaining from being so bad... BUT NO... IT WASN'T., 12 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Since the very first paragraph contains wrong information (Rod had 2 brothers and 2 sisters), I thought I'd buy the book to check the rest of it. From reading the preview pages, it has nothing but mistakes and poor writing in the earliest sentences, so not hopeful at all.
LATER.....
Got through the KINDLE version in minutes... Didn't take long to read what is easily the worst piece of writing I've come across. Full of innaccuracies and part-stories presented as a collection of statements rather than any cohesive writing. It is the sort of thing a child does when writing their first compositions, and I suspect it may also be a non-English speaker writing due to the grammatical style used in places. So many other books are better to read, and none more so than ROD : The AUTOBIOGRAPHY which gives a clearer picture of so many parts of his secretive life without ever revealing it all. Just don't spend any money on this drivel.

A very difficult read given that facts were wrong or needed updated, and the truncated style meant it was really a procession of facts (sic) being trotted out in single file.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bowie and the band in greatest ever form., 10 Sept. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Reality Tour dvd would be the single best way to showcase the talents of David Bowie and this fabulous band. Many artists look back on their best years, but Bowie seems to have aged better than any, capturing a youthful performance of his oldest and newest hits in one concert. Filmed perfectly and sound enhanced to the highest quality, you can almost feel the sensation of being there yourself, and to be entertained in this way by a master of his craft surrounded by top musicians, friends and colleagues makes this a special album. Best advice is to buy it yourself and relax with what will become a classic collection in it's time.

1.0 out of 5 stars STEAM- no sale, 26 July 2012
Yet another great game which will not grace the shelves here. Like Football Manager and others, I refuse to purchase ANY game which operates on STEAM... time to get up to date, game-makers. YOU ARE LOSING SALES.. and probably worse than that.. YOU ARE LOSING LOYAL CUSTOMERS... get rid of STEAM and we might come back.

4.0 out of 5 stars Poor design, 13 Sept. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you buy this product for the purpose of attaching it to a mic stand, you can expect to lose your iPad at some time. The actual design is seriously flawed on what is otherwise a great idea. This is due to the OPEN side of the holder which remains open after you have slid the iPad into position. The slightest bump will send the iPad crashing back out the way it went in, especially if it is used in any position other than vertical with the opening at the top. For the programme I was using (Sound Cue) which only operates horizontally due to the nature of the screens it shows, I had to apply velcro tabs to both the iPad and the iKlip to prevent any bump from losing my precious machine. A re-design with an adjustable sixth arm would solve this, as does the simple velcro tab although it gets in the way a little when using the iPad for normal use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great T-shirts, 13 Sept. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I normally bought Fruit Of The Loom T-shirts but thought I would try Gildan to get some of the bright colours they offer. The Gildan washes up well and holds it's colour, the only down-side being that the cotton is a little lighter, and that's on the heavy T-shirt. Biggest plus is the couple of inches extra body length on Gildan and the huge range of colours. Recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pointless, 24 July 2011
This review is from: Pure... Blues (Audio CD)
Absolutely pointless having an album of mixed songs for sale, but not telling you what is on it. It's a bit like buying vegetables for dinner, but you can't look in the bag to see what you've got. Poor way of selling by Amazon, from a company noted for how good it is at everything else.

1.0 out of 5 stars CAUTION, 6 Jun. 2011
Please take care when ordering from this company as they have labelled their product as a REAM, a British measure of 500 sheets made up of 20 QUIRES (25 sheets to a Quire). They ACTUALLY sell 250 sheets per pack and insist on calling their quantity a ream. Surely a case for Weights & Measures Department, but then again they haven't existed for years and no-one else appears to be bothered.
