5.0 out of 5 stars Terribly marketed film, but good if you're a film buff., 6 Mar 2011
This review is from: Cyrus [DVD] (DVD)
This film was marketed terribly. i bet the writers and director were angry because they've made a really intelligent, well acted film with great dialogue and it has been markted as a silly comedy. i really like silly comedies, they have a place but for all the people who don't want to be challenged by a film and to actually engage their brain, they will have been disappointed by this.

It is more of a gentle comedy with a family drama edge to it and also some very realistic glances into the psyche of people involved in this situation. the jealous of mum's new boyfriend kid, the mum who doesn't want to upset her son and the awkward new guy who's afraid of new girlfriend's kid. they were all well observed characters.

i'm really into the "mumblecore" movement, of which the guys who made this film are a part. if you didn't like this you will HATE their other films! this is an attempt to make a mumblecore style film but with more of a linear plot and generally more going on. for me it is very successful in this. really enjoyed it.

3.0 out of 5 stars PLEASE READ: great product, but big problem......., 11 Jan 2010
This product has many good reviews but it has 1 big problem in my opinion. The volume. All the features are great, it has good build quality, it is easy use and it is nice and slim. For me though the loudest volume setting just isn't loud enough! I've done searches on the internet and many other people have voiced this opinion too. Clearly some people are ok with it as they've given 5* reviews, but if you like to have the volume quite loud I strongly suggest you don't get this item. I know how to use all the volume setting, equalizer, avls, clear bass etc, but it's just not loud enough. Even did an exhaustive search for new firmwares from sony asia, sony usa and sony australia to see if that helped. I did this because apparently EU noise directives could be to blame for the low volume output of sony equipment.

4.0 out of 5 stars I saw it live on T.V, 8 Jan 2007
This album was previewed live on BBC2 electric proms last night, and it sounds like it will be amazing.

The argument over who is better between albarn and oasis is a silly one, they are not really comparable. Even when Blur where in existence the two should not have been compared. Both were brilliant bands. Oasis are one of Britain's best ever bands, and you only need to look at the tracklisting of their best of to realise this. They do what they do brilliantly.

Albarn is an experimentor and an innovator. Ever since he left blur he has been trying different things, and that is equally impressive. This new album will be no different.
