1.0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM PHILIPS - DON'T BUY, 21 Dec 2013
I'm currently in the middle of trying to get a refund for Philips clippers which were bought through Amazon.co.uk. Being a customer from the Republic of Ireland I was advised by Amazon that I had to seek a replacement/refund from Philips themselves. This whole process has been dragging on for several months now and I'm none the wiser. Philips have assured me they will be sending me the appropriate packaging through which to send them back the faulty clippers...so far no package. I feel as though they are fobbing me off. VERY POOR SERVICE. At this juncture I would advise potential customers to think twice before buying. I will update should something positive transpire.

2.0 out of 5 stars Harris and O'Toole Weren't British..., 17 Dec 2013
It always troubles me when books like this, which look to celebrate a certain aspect of a nation's culture, resort to shoe-horning in factually inaccurate subject matter just to pad out the word count. The whole world and its dog knows O'Toole and Harris were Irish so why the pretence that they are part of this celebrated group of British actors? For sure, O'Toole and Harris would have worked alongside Britain's finest and, for sure, both actors would have learnt some of their craft alongside Britain's finest too BUT the two Irishmen also went to America and got their hands dirty with America's finest. The two Irishmen travelled the world and worked alongside a whole host of international stars.

O'Toole and Harris were very proud of being Irish and if the Americans, the British, the French or whoever tried to claim them they would have politely pointed out that they were citizens of the world and IRISH.

In short, a message to British social and cultural commentators: please stop claiming other nations' jewels as your own.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rodney Blooming Marsh?, 25 May 2013
Having Rodney Marsh, the archetypal overrated London, flash-Harry, tabloid footballer associated with anything to do with Aston Villa is a mind boggling decision. Add in the fact that he was a foot-in-mouth liability as a football pundit and this whole production screams, "Naff!" You just know the quality of the product isn't 100% AVFC. Get in a Brian Little or Peter Withe to link the clips, or even get in a celebrity Villa fan, and then we'll talk.

Until then, I'm out!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Gripping Read, 16 Nov 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Lies Of Silence (Paperback)
This is one of the recommended texts for the Irish State English Leaving Certificate Exam and, as such, it is a book that students should enjoy. The backdrop to the book is that it is set in Belfast during the time of the North's "Troubles". For those unfamiliar with the time period the novel captures the bitterness and ruthlessness of that era really well. The main plus point of the book, however, is the plot which moves along at a cracking pace - it really is a gripping read from start to finish.

3.0 out of 5 stars Loose fit., 6 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This product does the job BUT I was disappointed by the loose fit in my car's lighter socket. Now and again, if going over a bump, say, the connection is lost. The net outcome is that I have to glance down now and again from the road to make sure the device is charging my phone. Does the job but not perfect.

Nice trousers, comfortable and a loose fit. Arrived on time - a little bit creased though, so have the iron ready.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Original Greatest Club In The World, 1 Nov 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A comprehensive record of the peerless football club that gave the world its most popular sport. This book is the Bible of Aston Villa, and in so being, is the Bible of league football, itself. Within its covers one can trace every performance, scoreline and attendance for every match played in Villa's history - a history that made Villa the most garlanded club side in England during the nineteenth century and for three-quarters of the twentieth century, too. This is a rich insight into the club that gave the world football as we know it and went on to become the original Greatest Club in The World.

A must, not just for Aston Villa Football Club fans, but for fans of the world's greatest game and its history.
